The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. This is the one who joins hair, the chapter on joining hair, meaning a woman joining her hair with hair. And he (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned the hadiths in it, and they all indicate that joining hair is among the major sins.
But is it a condition that the joining be with hair, or is it general? It is authentic in Sahih Muslim that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade a woman from joining anything to her hair, or warned against a woman joining anything to her hair. The word “anything” is general and includes hair and other things. However, the last hadith of Mu'awiyah, which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called deception, indicates that the intended meaning is joining hair or something like hair such that it gives the impression that the woman’s head has long hair, because this is what constitutes deception. As for if she joins it with something obvious that is known not to be hair, then this is not deception and it is known that it is not from the head. This is the path our jurists (may Allah have mercy on them) followed, stating that the forbidden joining is what is done with hair, because when the woman is seen, it is assumed that her head is good and long. Accordingly, artificial hair is like it if she joins with artificial hair.
