Benefits of the Hadith: (… from Asma’ bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a woman came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said

The Shaykh : If someone were to ask: What do you say about a bald woman who has no hair on her head at all? Is it permissible for her to use a wig?
The student: Yes… .

The Shaykh : Yes?
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes? Is it to cover a defect, or to add to beauty or the length of the hair? Yes? So the answer, and Allah knows best, is that it is permissible. However, the story of the woman and her daughter is brought up, where she said that she was afflicted with smallpox and her hair fell out, so she asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) if she could extend her hair, and he forbade her from doing so and cursed her. So the answer to this is that it appears that the hair was not lost entirely, and for this reason she asked for what?

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Extension, and asking for extension indicates that the root of the hair is present. If the root of the hair is present, then the addition is for the sake of completion and improvement. But if it is not present and it is a defect—and by a bald woman I mean one whose head is like her cheek, with no hair at all, and this exists; do not think that this is a hypothetical matter, it is not hypothetical but a real occurrence—then it appears to me that there is nothing wrong with it, due to the difference in intention between the extension for which the prohibition or the curse was mentioned, and this extension.
And in it is also evidence.
