The questioner : In the previous hadith, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The most truthful verse أصدق بيت
Usually, the term *bayt* is not applied except to the two complete hemistichs. I say: the second hemistich is “And every pleasure is, without doubt, fleeting”

The Shaykh : Yes, what he mentioned is a *bayt*, meaning a part of a *bayt*.

The questioner : But Shaykh, is the meaning correct?
“And every pleasure is, without doubt, fleeting” is correct.

The Shaykh : No, it is not correct, unless he meant the pleasures of this world, in which case it is correct. Perhaps that is his intention, and perhaps his intention is every pleasure from this world, because he said, “Know that everything is false except Allah,” and among that is the pleasure of this world.

The questioner : His use of the word *bayt*.

The Shaykh : There is no objection to using the term *bayt*; a hemistich is called a *bayt*.
