The questioner : I performed the obligatory Hajj twenty-five years ago, but I did not stone the pillars. My husband’s brother asked me to let him stone the pillars on my behalf. Is there an expiation for this?
The Shaykh : There is an expiation. If one person stones the pillars on behalf of another who is able to do so, the second person’s stoning is not valid, because it is obligatory for a person to stone on his own behalf with his own hand, as Allah the Exalted said:[Al-Baqarah 2:196].
However, if he is unable to do so, there is no harm in someone who performed Hajj with him this year stoning on his behalf. Let this asking woman look into the matter and think: is she able to stone, even if it is after the afternoon prayer or at night?
In that case, she must slaughter a sacrificial animal in Makkah and distribute it to the poor. If she is unable to do so, neither at night nor during the day, then the stoning on her behalf is valid.
The questioner : May Allah reward you, O honorable Shaykh, and may Allah bless you and your knowledge.

And complete the Hajj and 'umrah for Allah
