The reciter: Al-Humaydi narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, al-Zuhri narrated to us, saying: Amr ibn Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas informed me from his father, who said: Sahih al-Bukhari 6733.
Sufyan said: “And Sa'd ibn Khawlah was a man from Banu Amir ibn Lu'ayy”.
The Shaykh : Yes, this hadith has already been discussed.
It contains evidence that the daughter is among the heirs, based on his statement: “and my only heir is my daughter”. This refutes the practice of the people of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance, because the people of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance prevented women from inheritance and said that there is no inheritance except for the heroes who defend the lands and carry weapons, while women have no share in inheritance. For this reason, Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) said:[An-Nisa 4:7].
The questioner : ...
The Shaykh : This is general; “child” includes both male and female.
The questioner : But did he have only a daughter?
The Shaykh : His statement: intended the generic term that includes male and female, singular and plural.
I fell ill in Makkah with an illness, and it brought me close to death. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to visit me, and I said: O Messenger of Allah, I have a great deal of wealth, and my only heir is my daughter. Should I give two-thirds of my wealth in charity? He said: No. I said: Then one-half? He said: No. I said: One-third? He said: One-third is a lot. If you leave your children wealthy, that is better than leaving them poor, begging from people. And you will not spend any expense, even a morsel you put in your wife’s mouth, but you will be rewarded for it. I said: O Messenger of Allah, will I be left behind after my migration? He said: You will not be left behind after me, and you will not do any deed seeking the Face of Allah, but you will increase in rank and degree by it. Perhaps you will be left behind after me so that some people will benefit from you and others will be harmed by you. But as for the wretched Sa'd ibn Khawlah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) expressed pity for him because he died in Makkah.
Sufyan said: “And Sa'd ibn Khawlah was a man from Banu Amir ibn Lu'ayy”.
