The questioner : Are the seventy thousand who enter Paradise those whose faith is complete? And are there people who are punished in the Fire and then enter Paradise, and people who remain in the Fire eternally?
The Shaykh : As for the people who remain in the Fire eternally, these are the disbelievers who have no good deeds, as Allah Blessed and Exalted is He said:[Al-Ahzab 33:64-65].
And Allah the Exalted mentioned the eternal abode of the disbelievers in the Fire in the Qur'an in three places:
The first is in Surat al-Nisa, in the saying of Allah the Exalted:[An-Nisa 4:168-169].
The second is in Surat al-Ahzab, in the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Ahzab 33:64-65].
The third is in Surat al-Jinn, in the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Jinn 72:23].
As for the people of sins among the believers, these are deserving of entering the Fire and being punished in it according to the measure of their sins, but Allah may forgive them so they do not enter the Fire, or intercession may be made for them so they do not enter the Fire.
And there are people who enter Paradise without reckoning or punishment, and they are those whom the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) described in his saying:Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 911.
The Shaykh : As for the people who remain in the Fire eternally, these are the disbelievers who have no good deeds, as Allah Blessed and Exalted is He said:
(64) Indeed, Allah has cursed the disbelievers and prepared for them a Blaze. (65) Abiding therein forever, they will not find a protector or a helper.
And Allah the Exalted mentioned the eternal abode of the disbelievers in the Fire in the Qur'an in three places:
The first is in Surat al-Nisa, in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
(168) Indeed, those who disbelieve and commit wrong [or injustice] - never will Allah forgive them, nor will He guide them to a path. (169) Except the path of Hell; they will abide therein forever. And that, for Allah, is [always] easy.
The second is in Surat al-Ahzab, in the saying of Allah the Exalted:

And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger - then indeed, for him is the fire of Hell; they will abide therein forever.
وَمَنْ يَعْصِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَإِنَّ لَهُ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًاAs for the people of sins among the believers, these are deserving of entering the Fire and being punished in it according to the measure of their sins, but Allah may forgive them so they do not enter the Fire, or intercession may be made for them so they do not enter the Fire.
