The Shaykh : This hadith regarding the virtue of dying on Friday is not authentic. A person is only rewarded for an action he performed himself in which he had a choice. A person’s death on Friday is not by his choice. If death were to overtake him on Thursday, he would not be able to delay it until Friday. Nor would he be able to bring forward his death from Saturday to Friday if his appointed time was Saturday. Every hadith that has come regarding the virtue of dying on a specific day is not authentic, because the reward is for actions that a servant performs by his own choice.
