The questioner : A man works as a servant in one of the mosques, then he was afflicted with an illness that prevented him from performing this work, so one of the workers was placed in his position for a portion of the salary, and he says: “I have informed the Endowments Administration.” Is this work permissible or not? May Allah reward you with good?

The Shaykh : If the Endowments Administration permits him to do so, there is nothing wrong with it. If the Endowments Administration does not permit him to do this, then if he hopes for recovery, he should have someone else take his place. If he does not hope for recovery, it is obligatory for him to submit his resignation and leave the work for someone else.
