That a man entered the mosque on a Friday from a gate that was near the court, while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was standing delivering the sermon. He faced the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while standing and said: "O Messenger of Allah, the wealth has perished and the paths have been cut off, so call upon Allah to relieve us." He said: So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his hands and then said: "O Allah, relieve us. O Allah, relieve us. O Allah, relieve us." Anas said: "By Allah, we did not see any cloud or wisp in the sky, and there was no house or dwelling between us and Sal'. He said: Then a cloud the size of a shield appeared behind him. When it reached the middle of the sky, it spread out and then it rained. He said: "By Allah, we did not see the sun for a week." He said: Then a man entered from that same gate the following Friday, while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was standing delivering the sermon. He faced him while standing and said: "O Messenger of Allah, the wealth has perished and the paths have been cut off, so call upon Allah to hold it back from us." He said: So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his hands and then said: "O Allah, around us and not upon us. O Allah, upon the hills, the highlands, the valleys, and the places where trees grow." So it dispersed, and we went out walking in the sun. Shurayk said: "I asked Anas ibn Malik: Was it the same man as the first one?" He said: "I do not know."
أَنَّ رَجُلًا دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ يَوْمَ جُمُعَةٍ، مِنْ بَابٍ كَانَ نَحْوَ دَارِ الْقَضَاءِ، وَرَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَائِمٌ يَخْطُبُ، فَاسْتَقْبَلَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَائِمًا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَلَكَتِ الْأَمْوَالُ، وَانْقَطَعَتِ السُّبُلُ، فَادْعُ اللهَ يُغِثْنَا، قَالَ: فَرَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَيْهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: اللهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، قَالَ أَنَسٌ: وَلَا وَاللهِ مَا نَرَى فِي السَّمَاءِ مِنْ سَحَابٍ وَلَا قَزَعَةٍ، وَمَا بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ سَلْعٍ مِنْ بَيْتٍ وَلَا دَارٍ، قَالَ: فَطَلَعَتْ مِنْ وَرَائِهِ سَحَابَةٌ مِثْلُ التُّرْسِ، فَلَمَّا تَوَسَّطَتِ السَّمَاءَ انْتَشَرَتْ، ثُمَّ أَمْطَرَتْ، قَالَ: فَلَا وَاللهِ مَا رَأَيْنَا الشَّمْسَ سَبْتًا، قَالَ: ثُمَّ دَخَلَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ ذَلِكَ الْبَابِ فِي الْجُمُعَةِ الْمُقْبِلَةِ، وَرَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَائِمٌ يَخْطُبُ، فَاسْتَقْبَلَهُ قَائِمًا، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَلَكَتِ الْأَمْوَالُ وَانْقَطَعَتِ السُّبُلُ، فَادْعُ اللهَ يُمْسِكْهَا عَنَّا، قَالَ: فَرَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَيْهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: اللهُمَّ حَوْلَنَا وَلَا عَلَيْنَا، اللهُمَّ عَلَى الْآكَامِ، وَالظِّرَابِ، وَبُطُونِ الْأَوْدِيَةِ، وَمَنَابِتِ الشَّجَرِ فَانْقَلَعَتْ، وَخَرَجْنَا نَمْشِي فِي الشَّمْسِ قَالَ شَرِيكٌ: فَسَأَلْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ: أَهُوَ الرَّجُلُ الْأَوَّلُ؟ قَالَ: لَا أَدْرِيThe Shaykh : This is also part of the supplication for rain, where a person asks for rain during the Friday sermon.
