The Book of Hajj-02a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: And Zuhayr ibn Harb, and Ibn Abi 'Umar narrated to me, and Ibn Abi 'Umar said: Sufyan narrated to us from al-Zuhri from Salim from his father (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The residents of Medina should assure the Ihram from Dhil-Hulaifa, the people of Syria from Al-Juhfa and the people of Najd from Qarn. يهل أهل المدينة من ذي الحليفة ، ويهل أهل الشام من الجحفة ، ويهل أهل نجدٍ من قرنٍ
Sahih al-Bukhari 133
Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: It was mentioned to me - but I did not hear it - that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The people of Yemen should enter ihram at Yalamlam. ويهل أهل اليمن من يلملم
Muwatta Malik 20:25
.

The Shaykh : There is no difference between the hadith of Ibn 'Umar and the hadith of Ibn 'Abbas except in two things:
The first is that the hadith of Ibn 'Umar says: "They enter the state of ihram," which is a declarative sentence meaning a command, so it contains evidence for the obligation of entering the state of ihram from these miqat locations.
The second is that Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) did not hear from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he designated Yalamlam as the miqat for the people of Yemen, but he said: "It was reported to me." It is well known that Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) was among the most scrupulous of people, and if the one who reported it from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had not been trustworthy, he would not have taken the hadith and narrated it from him.
