The Book of Marriage, Breastfeeding, Divorce, Mutual Oath-Swearing, and Manumission-05a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Qutaybah ibn Sa'id, Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah, and 'Amr al-Naqid narrated to us, and the wording is that of Abu Bakr. They said: Sufyan narrated to us from Ibn al-Munkadir, who heard Jabir say: كانت اليهود تقول: إذا أتى الرجل امرأته من دبرها في قبلها كان الولد أحول فنزلت: نساؤكم حرث لكم فأتوا حرثكم أنى شئتم The Jews used to say: If a man approaches his wife from behind, in her front, the child will be cross-eyed. So this was revealed: "Your wives are a place of sowing for you, so go to your place of sowing whenever you wish.".

The Shaykh : Yes, it was revealed to refute the Jews. The Jews claimed that if a man approaches his wife in her front from behind, meaning from the rear, the child would be cross-eyed. This is a lie that reality refutes, and the revealed revelation also refutes it. Allah the Exalted revealed
Your wives are a place of sowing of seed for you, so come to your place of cultivation however you wish نساؤكم حرث لكم فأتوا حرثكم أنى شئتم
[Al-Baqarah 2:223]
, meaning from wherever you wish, from the front, from the back, or from the side. The important thing is that it be in the place of sowing, and the place of sowing is the front. This verse indicates that intercourse in the rear is not a right of the person. The Sunnah has come to forbid it and emphasize its prohibition, stating that it is one of the major sins. It is also a clear analogy for forbidding intercourse with a menstruating woman, because if menstruation is a harm that prevents intercourse with a menstruating woman, then what is the rear? It is more severe and heavier, because everyone knows that blood is less severe than excrement. Therefore, the prohibition of intercourse with a woman in the rear is established by explicit text and correct analogy. As for arguing with the generality of Allah's saying
Except from their wives or those their right hands possess إلا على أزواجهم أو ما ملكت أيمانهم
[Al-Mu'minun 23:6]
, this is an absolute statement that is restricted by other texts.
