The reciter: Abu Kuraib, Muhammad ibn al-'Ala', narrated to us: Abu Usamah narrated to us: Hisham informed us: my father informed us: from Zaynab bint Umm Salama: from Umm Habiba bint Abi Sufyan, who said: .
The Shaykh : This is the prohibition of the foster-daughter (ribbah). The ribbah is the daughter of the wife, and the scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) extended this to all descendants of the wife, whether her daughter, her son's daughter, or her daughter's daughter, and so on. Thus, all those who descend from this wife are forbidden to the husband, but on the condition that he has not had intercourse with her, by the saying of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He)[An-Nisa 4:23].
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me, and I said to him: "Do you have any interest in my sister, the daughter of Abi Sufyan?" He said: "What would I do with her?" I said: "Marry her." He said: "Do you like that?" I said: "I am not exclusive to you, and the one I most love to share the good with is my sister." He said: "Indeed, she is not lawful for me." I said: "I have been informed that you are courting Durrah bint Abi Salama." He said: "The daughter of Umm Salama?" I said: "Yes." He said: "If she had not been my foster-daughter in my care, she would not have been lawful for me. She is the daughter of my brother through breastfeeding. Thawiybah breastfed me and her father. So do not offer me your daughters or your sisters."
