The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when he was informed that 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) had proposed to the daughter of Abu Jahal, said: "By Allah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah and the daughter of an enemy of Allah will not be under one man."
