The reciter: Abu al-Nu'man narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, Abu Hazm al-Madani narrated to us from Sahl ibn Sa'd al-Sa'idi, who said: .
The Shaykh : This heading is the chapter on the imam who goes to a group of people to reconcile them. It means that there is no harm in the imam going to the people to reconcile them. We do not tell the imam that going to them is considered submission. Rather, we say that this may be a sign of the imam's elevation, for whoever humbles himself for Allah, Allah the Mighty and Majestic will raise him. And here is the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the imam of the community in authority and legislation, who went to reconcile them and did not send anyone, but went himself. This indicates that it is part of the guidance of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for the imam to go himself to reconcile people.
There was fighting between the Banu 'Amr, and that reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). So he prayed the midday prayer, then went to them to reconcile them. When the time for the afternoon prayer came, Bilal called the adhan and the iqamah, and he ordered Abu Bakr to step forward. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came, and Abu Bakr was in the prayer. The people made way until he stood behind Abu Bakr, and he advanced to the row next to him. He said: And the people were pushing each other. And Abu Bakr, when he entered the prayer, did not turn around until he finished. When he saw the pushing, he could not restrain it, so he turned around and saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) behind him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured to him with his hand, saying "Go on," and gestured with his hand like this. Abu Bakr paused for a moment, praising Allah for the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), then walked backward. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw that, he stepped forward, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led the people in prayer. When he finished his prayer, he said: "O Abu Bakr, what prevented you, when I gestured to you, from going on?" He said: It was not for the son of Abu Quhafah to lead the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in prayer. And he said to the people: "If a matter befalls you, let the men make way and let the women push."
