The reciter: Abu Bakr ibn al-Nadr ibn Abi al-Nadr narrated to us, saying: Abu al-Nadr Hashim ibn al-Qasim narrated to me, and 'Ubayd Allah al-Ashja'i narrated to us, from Malik ibn Mughall, from Talhah ibn Masrif, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah, that he said:
We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on a journey. He said: The people's provisions ran out. He said: Until they were about to slaughter some of their pack animals. He said: Then 'Umar said: O Messenger of Allah, if you would gather what remains of the people's provisions and invoke Allah over them. He said: So he did. He said: Then the one with barley brought his barley, and the one with dates brought his dates. He said: And Mujahid said: And the one with pits brought his pits. I said: What did they do with the pits? He said: They sucked on them and drank water over them. He said: So he invoked over them until he filled the people's provisions. He said: Then he said at that time: I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah, and that I am the Messenger of Allah. No servant will meet Allah with these two while having any doubt about them except that he will enter Paradise.
كنا مع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم في مسير ، قال : فنفدت أزواد القوم ، قال : حتى هم بنحر بعض حمائلهم ، قال : فقال عمر : يا رسول الله ، لو جمعت ما بقي من أزواد القوم ، فدعوت الله عليها ، قال : ففعل ، قال : فجاء ذو البر ببره ، وذو التمر بتمره ، قال : وقال مجاهد : وذو النواة بنواه ، قلت : وما كانوا يصنعون بالنوى ؟ قال : كانوا يمصونه ويشربون عليه الماء ، قال : فدعا عليها حتى ملأ القوم أزودتهم ، قال : فقال عند ذلك : أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله ، وأني رسول الله ، لا يلقى الله بهما عبد غير شاك فيهما إلا دخل الجنة
