The questioner : He also says that when I leave my town, which is about thirty kilometers away, and the time for prayer arrives while I am in a place with salty land and the sea is far from me, and I have no water other than for dry ablution, is my prayer permissible when I perform dry ablution from this salt flat? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.
The Shaykh : Performing dry ablution with any earth is permissible, as Allah the Exalted said:[An-Nisa 4:43] However, if you intend to return within the time before it ends and you will be able to reach water, then it is better for you to wait until you return, reach the water, and pray with water, as that is better for you than praying with dry ablution at the beginning of the time.
The questioner : Yes.
The Shaykh : As for if you do not expect to catch up with the water before the time ends, then pray with dry ablution, and there is no blame on you.
The Shaykh : Performing dry ablution with any earth is permissible, as Allah the Exalted said:
And if you are ill or on a journey or one of you comes from the place of relieving himself or you have contacted women and find no water, then seek clean earth
وإن كنتم مرضى أو على سفر أو جاء أحد منكم من الغائط أو لامستم النساء فلم تجدوا ماء فتيمموا صعيدا طيباThe questioner : Yes.
The Shaykh : As for if you do not expect to catch up with the water before the time ends, then pray with dry ablution, and there is no blame on you.
