Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: ((Except that you do kindness to your awliya (close friends of Allah); that is recorded in the Book))

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The estimation is
Except إلا
but, because the exception here is disjoint. And when the exception is disjoint, it is estimated as
Except إلا
but. The disjunction, just as it occurs in entities, also occurs in meanings, as the grammarians say: "The people came except a donkey" This is a disjoint exception in terms of entities; the people means their selves except a donkey. And like this verse,
except that you may إِلَّا أَنْ تَفْعَلُوا
[Al-Ahzab 33:6]
is a disjoint exception in terms of meanings. The disjoint exception occurs in meanings and also in entities.
(1) By time, (2) Indeed, mankind is in loss, (3) Except for those who have believed وَالْعَصْرِ * إِنَّ الإِنسَانَ لَفِي خُسْرٍ * إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا
[Al-Asr 1:2:3] This is connected because those who believe are from among the people, but
except that you may do to your close associates إِلَّا أَنْ تَفْعَلُوا إِلَى أَوْلِيَائِكُمْ
[Al-Ahzab 33:6]
this does not fall under His saying:
And those with blood ties وأولوا الأرحام
For this reason He said:
except that you may do to your close associates a kindness إِلَّا أَنْ تَفْعَلُوا إِلَى أَوْلِيَائِكُمْ مَعْرُوفًا
[Al-Ahzab 33:6]
by a bequest, so it is permissible.
To your awliya (close friends of Allah) إِلَى أَوْلِيَائِكُمْ
is the plural of wali (close friend of Allah), and the meaning of wali (close friend of Allah) here is one with whom you have loyalty and support, like what happened between the Muhajireen and the Ansar at the beginning of the migration. So if there is a favor between you and him that you do good to him, then this is permissible. The author said: "by a bequest" Why did he specify the good deed with a bequest? Because the discussion is about inheritance, and inheritance does not occur except after death. Likewise, a bequest does not occur except after death. Allah the Exalted said:
That was كَانَ ذَلِكَ
"That is, the abrogation of inheritance by faith and migration with the inheritance of those with blood ties.
in the Register inscribed. فِي الْكِتَابِ مَسْطُورًا
[Al-Ahzab:6] And I mean by
Book كتاب
in both places the Preserved Tablet."
That was كَانَ ذَلِكَ
The reference is to the fact that
those of [blood] relationship are more entitled [to inheritance] in the decree of Allah than the [other] believers and the emigrants َأُوْلُوا الأَرْحَامِ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلَى بِبَعْضٍ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُهَاجِرِينَ
[Al-Ahzab 33:6]
That was in the Book كَانَ ذَلِكَ فِي الْكِتَابِ
that is, in the Preserved Tablet, according to the author's statement. This is apparent in the latter case because "kana" indicates the future, or is it the past? It is the past. And this indicates that what is in the Preserved Book is that inheritance is for those with blood ties, but it was by loyalty for a short period. When the Muhajireen first arrived in Madinah, they made a covenant of brotherhood among themselves by which inheritance was established. But this is not what Allah the Exalted wrote as a permanent state for His servants; rather, that happened why? Due to a circumstance, which was the establishment of complete brotherhood between the Muhajireen and the Ansar. Otherwise, the established ruling is what is in the Preserved Book, that inheritance is only by kinship. And His saying:
That has ever been in the Register inscribed. كَانَ ذَلِكَ فِي الْكِتَابِ مَسْطُورًا
[Al-Isra 17:58]
recorded مسطوراً
This is... a report of how
recorded مسطوراً
is, and before it came a preposition and its object.
What was said in the Book is recorded
The student: ...
The Shaykh : What is the estimation?
The student: Existing?

The Shaykh : Existing is not a verb
The student: The predicate of "kana"

The Shaykh : Where?
The student: The predicate of "kana" is in the accusative case

The Shaykh : Which one?
The student: "Masطورa" is the predicate of "kana," and "in al-Kitab" is connected to "kana," so "that was recorded in the Book"

The Shaykh : Okay, where is the subject of "kana"?
The student: That.

The Shaykh : Correct. This is not hidden from you; I taught you, meaning from the chapter of "dhan" (opinion), so anyone who understands it.
This ذا
