Discussion of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “...and the fasting men and the fasting women...”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
For it is a restraint for him. فإنه له وجاء
What is the indication from the hadith?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : If it had been permissible, he would have guided to it.
The student: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said
I did not find anything that brings one closer to Allah except that I commanded you to do it.ما وجدت شيئا يقرب الى الله الا أمرتكم به

The Shaykh : The indication is that the Messenger guided to fasting, which is more difficult than this act. If this act had been permissible, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) would have guided to it because it is easier and simpler. And Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said
Whenever the Prophet (ﷺ) was given an option between two things, he used to select the easier of the tow as long as it was not sinful ما خير النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بين أمرين إلا اختار أيسرهما ما لم يكن إثما
Sahih al-Bukhari 6786
So when he did not choose this easier option, it is known that it is a forbidden sin.
