Fruits
“A substitute or explanation for provision, and it is that which is eaten for pleasure rather than to maintain health” “Fruits” in the nominative case is a substitute or explanation for “provision” because the word “provision” is broader than “fruits,” so “fruits” is a partitive substitute, as “provision” is the general term. “Fruits” here is not tanweened because it is a plural form that is prevented from being declined, following the pattern of Fu'aa'il. The author said regarding fruit: “It is that which is eaten for pleasure rather than to maintain health”, meaning that fruit is what a person eats for enjoyment rather than for sustenance; it is a type of optional consumption. Similarly, the people of Paradise eat what they eat there for the sake of enjoyment, not to maintain health, because their health is guaranteed
Then they will be healthy and never fall ill, and they will live and never die.
forever. Thus, everything they eat in Paradise falls under the category of fruit, because the author states that the people of Paradise are in no need of maintaining health, as their bodies are created to last forever. For this reason, it came in the hadith:
That they do not urinate or defecate, but rather what they eat exits as perspiration, like the scent of musk.
They enjoy this food both when eating it and when it exits, because it exits as perspiration with the scent of musk. Just as if a person were afflicted with musk, he would find pleasure and a good smell. We ask Allah to make us and you among them. Good.
Fruits; and they will be honored
[As-Saffat 37:42]
“By the reward of Allah in the Gardens of Pleasure. They are honored.” This is a nominal sentence indicating permanence and continuity, meaning they are honored in this Paradise from every angle by Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) honors them, they look at Him, and He promises them His pleasure, so He is never angry with them. They are honored by the angels.
the angels will enter upon them from every gate, [saying], (24) "Peace be upon you for what you patiently endured. And excellent is the final home."
[Ar-Ra'd 13:23-24]
They are honored by the servants.
(17) There will circulate among them young boys made eternal (18) With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring -
[Al-Waqi'ah 56:17-18]
They are honored from every angle; they do not find, on any day or in any moment, any humiliation. Rather, they are at the peak of honor from every angle. Even if their only honor were that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) honored them and permitted them to look at His Face and speak to them, that would be the ultimate joy. Nothing is more joyful, more blissful, or better than the intimate conversation with Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and they are looking at His Face.
(42) Fruits; and they will be honored (43) In gardens of pleasure
[As-Saffat 37:42-43]
“Gardens” is the plural of “Garden.” In the Arabic language, a garden is an orchard with many trees. It is called that because it shades those within it; “yujinnu” means it covers and conceals them. The root of this word, “j-w-n,” is originally from concealment, so you will find all its meanings return to this. The “jinn” (hearts) are concealed, and the “jinn” (shield) is what a warrior uses to conceal himself from arrows. The “jinn” (genies) are a hidden, unseen world, and the “Garden” is an orchard covered by trees. However, we do not interpret “Garden of Pleasure” in this way; rather, we say it is the abode that Allah prepared for His awliya (close friends of Allah), in which is what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and what has not entered the heart of any human. Because if you said it is an orchard with many trees, the longing for it and the looking at it would be weakened, as the listener would imagine this Paradise is like the orchards of this world, wandering through people’s orchards, asking which orchard is the greatest, the orchard of so-and-so. His heart or imagination would not go beyond that orchard, even though the Paradise contains what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and what has not entered the heart of any human, as Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said:
And no soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes as reward for what they used to do.
[Surat al-Sajdah: 17]. And Allah the Exalted said in the Qudsi Hadith:
I have prepared for My righteous slaves (such excellent things) as no eye has ever seen, nor an ear has ever heard nor a human heart can ever think of.
Sahih al-Bukhari 7498
Therefore, it is best to interpret the Garden, which is the Garden of Eternity, as the abode that Allah the Exalted prepared for His awliya, in which is what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and what has not entered the heart of any human. And His saying:
Pleasure
in the Gardens of Pleasure
[Yunus 10:9]
This is from the category of adding a thing to its type, meaning Gardens of Pleasure in which there is no misery and no sorrow. Pleasure for the heart, which is joy, and pleasure for the body, because they
They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and pearl, and their garments therein will be silk.
[Al-Hajj 22:23]
are blessed in their bodies and blessed in their hearts. Look at His saying:
And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments].
[Al-Insan 76:12]
And He also said:
And they will be greeted with radiance and joy
So the radiance is in the face, which is beauty, and the joy is in the heart. Thus, beauty is in them both inwardly and outwardly. For this reason, it is called the Garden of Pleasure, because the person is blessed in it outwardly and inwardly; his heart is blessed with joy, and his body is blessed with the radiance and the silk clothing.
