I had a companion
The author said "companion" Is this companion a jinn or a human? It was said that it is a jinn, based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And whoever is blinded from remembrance of the Most Merciful - We appoint for him a devil, and he is to him a companion.
[Al-Zukhruf:36] And it was said that it is a human, meaning one who accompanies and whispers to him. The verse allows for both meanings, and the principle in our exegesis is that if a verse allows for two meanings that do not contradict each other, it is obligatory to apply it to both. There is no doubt that humans have devils, just as the jinn have devils, and that the devils of humans whisper just as the devils of the jinn whisper. Thus, the verse is general: the companion is either from the humans, or from the jinn, or from both. And his saying "companion" he said "partner" which is problematic, for how can a believer be in the company of a disbeliever? For it is obligatory that there be distance and no companionship between believers and disbelievers, based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:
O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another
[Al-Ma'idah:51] Based on His saying:
O you who have believed, do not take My enemies and your enemies as allies, extending to them affection
[Al-Mumtahanah:1] But it was said that the intended meaning of "companion" here is a partner in wealth or travel or the like, and the intended meaning is not the companionship that necessitates loyalty and love.
He says this companion
Are you indeed of those who believe
[As-Saffat 37:52]
says. The author said "to be humiliated," meaning he humiliates him, blames him, and rebukes him: How do you believe in that? And it was said that rather, he says this in denial and negation. The verse allows for both: it allows that when the believer presents to this companion the matter of believing in the Resurrection, he says this in astonishment and disapproval of it. And it allows that he humiliates him, blaming and rebuking him for believing. He said
Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe
[As-Saffat 37:52]
in the Resurrection. "If we die and become dust," etc. It has been mentioned to us that such an interrogative sentence accompanied by "in" or other tools of emphasis is an interrogative in which the questioner emphasizes what? Denial. He says: How do you affirm and believe and emphasize such and such, when it is not correct? And from this is the saying of the brothers of Yusuf:
Are you indeed Joseph?" He said "I am Joseph, and this is my brother
[Yusuf 12:90]
This one says: "Are you among those who believe?" meaning, how do you believe with a confirmed belief using "in" and "lam" in this distant, denied matter? And his saying "in the Resurrection" the author specified that with the Resurrection because of his saying
When we have died and become dust and bones
[Al-Mu'minun 23:82]
so that what specified the belief with the Resurrection is the context.
When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?
[Al-Waqi'ah 56:47]
He said: "Regarding the two hamzas in the three places, as previously mentioned. What was mentioned? Three readings: realizing both hamzas, easing the second, and inserting an alif in the realization, and inserting an alif in the easing. He says
When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?
[Al-Waqi'ah 56:47]
"to be recompensed and judged." He also denied that. So look at this wretched companion, refuge with Allah, who humiliates, rebukes, and denies this confirmed matter which the Book, the Sunnah, and reason indicate, saying: How will we be resurrected and recompensed after we were dust and bones?
