Commentary on Tafsir al-Jalalayn: And the people of Paradise say
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
So the people of Paradise say [As-Saffat 37:58-59] which is in this world, and are we not to be punished? It is a question expressing delight and speaking of the blessing of Allah the Exalted, namely the perpetuation of life and the absence of punishment.
His statement The hamza here is for questioning, the fa is a conjunction, and ma is a Negation from the Hijaz dialect that raises the subject and accusses the predicate. It is here the operator for the completion of the conditions, for the conditions for the operation of ma when it is not complete are fulfilled in this verse. [As-Saffat 37:58] This question, the author says, is a question of delight and speaking of the blessing of Allah. He means he says, "Shall we remain, so are we not to die?" That is, they take delight in the negation of death for them. And there is no doubt that the negation of death, immortality, and perpetuation are among the greatest things that please a person. For this reason, it came in the hadith: Because they are safe from death. So here they are speaking of this blessing, which is the negation of death for them. [As-Saffat 37:58-59] which is in this world. This exception is like His saying, the Exalted: [Ad-Dukhan 44:56] And thus, the exception is disconnected, meaning, but our first death has occurred and was completed in this world. Good.
And his statement[Ash-Shu'ara 26:138] is conjoined to "are we not to die," meaning, and likewise "are we not to be punished." So death is negated for them, which implies perpetuation, and punishment is negated, which implies enjoyment.
(58) Then, are we not to die (59) Except for our first death
His statement
Are we not
Then, are we not to die
That when death is brought on the Day of Resurrection in the form of a ram, it will be stood between Paradise and the Fire, and it will be called out to these and those, and they will say, "Do you know this?" They will say, "Yes, this is death." It will be slaughtered, and it will be said, "O people of Paradise, immortality and no death, and O people of the Fire, immortality and no death." The people of the Fire will increase in grief upon their grief, and the people of Paradise will increase in joy upon their joy.
(58) Then, are we not to die (59) Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?"
They will not taste death therein except the first death, and He will have protected them from the punishment of Hellfire
And his statement
