Commentary on Tafsir al-Jalalayn: “Innaka” is an address to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). “Mait wa inhum maitun” means you will die and they will die, so there is no gloating.

He said: “
Indeed, you are to die, and indeed, they are to die. إنك ميت وإنهم ميتون
[Az-Zumar 39:30]
You إنك
: This is an address to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family).
dead, a dead person ميت مَيِّتٌ
Meaning, you will die.”
He said: “
and they are dead وإنهم ميتون
So you will die and they will die.”
You will die and they will die. And just as the common people among us say, the promise, the promise is ahead, ahead is the Day of Resurrection, because Allah on the Day of Resurrection will judge between the servants. People will dispute over their deeds and their religions, and they will dispute over their private rights, especially. So Allah will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection. He says: “So there is no gloating over death.” Meaning, if you die, there is no gloating over you, because they will die just like you. “It was revealed when they delayed his death (peace and blessings be upon him and his family).” The author said this, that the reason for its revelation was that Quraysh delayed the death of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), so this verse was revealed to inform him that he will die, and if he dies, they will also die and be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection. But this, this claim needs evidence. It needs evidence so that we can look at the reason for revelation and find this. If that is the case, then one should not imagine a reason for revelation for the meaning of a verse from the Book of Allah, because the reason for revelation is a pure report. Take it as it is, O people. A pure report has no place for reason. But I say that Allah mentioned this phrase as an indication that your work will not be lost, nor the work of others. Your work in calling to the oneness of Allah will not be lost, and their work in associating partners with Allah will not be lost. For you is an appointment in which you will gather and dispute before Allah (Mighty and Majestic). So in this is consolation for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and in it is a warning to the polytheists. So from one angle, it is consolation and easing for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and from another angle, what is it? A warning to the polytheists that they will die, and their death will also be near, and it will be certain, certain, with no doubt in it.
“Thumma innakum
Then indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection ثم إنكم يوم القيامةِ
[Al-Mu'minun 23:16]
Thumma innakum, O people, regarding the injustices among you.”
This is amazing from the author (may Allah have mercy on him). The address
(30) Indeed, you are to die, and indeed, they are to die. (31) Then إنك ميت وإنهم ميتون ثم إنكم
[Az-Zumar 39:30-31]
“The author directed it to the general people, saying, O people. Pay attention, my brother, what is your name? Your name

The Shaykh : “
Thumma innakum ” he says “ O people, regarding the injustices among you.” And the context rejects this specification. The address is to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and those who disbelieved in him. This is the change. And you will dispute over the injustices between you, or over what is between you of truth and falsehood?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : The second is of truth and falsehood. You call to the oneness of Allah and they deny it. And for you is an appointment in which you will dispute.
then you ثم إنكم
That is, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and those who lied about him, on the Day of Resurrection, before your Lord, you will dispute. And in His saying “before your Lord” is an indication that this dispute is a consequence of His lordship (Mighty and Majestic), because He is a just judge, and of His justice is that He judges between the disputants on the Day of Resurrection, just as He judges between the disputants in private rights. And the explanation of the remaining benefits will come... Mentioning the benefits...
