Continuation of the commentary on Tafsir al-Jalalayn: “Indeed, only the patient will be given their reward” for their obedience and what they are tested with, “without any reckoning,” without a measure or a scale

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
And His saying:
Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account."
[Az-Zumar 39:10]
their rewardأجرهم
means their reward. And Allah, Mighty and Majestic, by His generosity, named the reward “ajr” (wages) to give the worker peace of mind regarding the fullness of its payment. Why? Because wages are the counterpart of work that must be delivered, as if the work and the reward were an exchange, as if it were an exchange and a contract between Allah and the worker, and between the worshipper, that Allah will give him the price, the wages, even though Allah, Glorified and Exalted, is the One who bestows favor first and last. He is the One who bestows favor first by enabling the work; had Allah not helped you and guided you, you would not have been able to do it. Then He bestows favor secondly with what? With the wages. And His saying:
without reckoning بغير حساب
He says: “without any measure or scale” meaning that the reward which Allah, Mighty and Majestic, gives for the work is not on the basis of precise calculation and exchange as occurs among people; the exchange among people is just, meaning He does not give you more than you deserve. But the reward of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, for patience is more without any reckoning. So a good deed is multiplied tenfold, up to seven hundredfold, up to many multiples. And patience has no reckoning. Thus the patient should expect a reward whose magnitude his mind cannot grasp, because Allah said:
Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account."
[Az-Zumar 39:10]
. Also, patience has a great benefit for the person himself, which is training the soul to bear hardship. Many people want things to happen quickly; they call upon Allah, Mighty and Majestic, to remove a hardship, and the response is delayed, so they ask why? Yes, and they become despairing. We say: Be patient. People generally encounter calamities, and you find them wanting a quick resolution, so we say: Be patient, be patient, and accustom yourself to patience. This is training; to accustom yourself to patience. And patience while awaiting relief is considered one of the greatest acts of worship, because if you are awaiting relief, you are awaiting relief from Allah, and this is worship. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
And know that victory is with patience, and that relief is with distress
Victory. He said: with patience, and relief is with distress. So the more distressing things become, the closer relief is to you, and that with hardship there is ease. Yes.
The student: ...
Say, "O My servants قل يا عباد
[Az-Zumar 39:10]
...?

The Shaykh : This issue will be answered, if Allah wills, when we derive the benefits. Yes
Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, I have been commanded to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion.

Say, “Indeed, I have been commanded to worship Allah, being sincere to Him in religion. 11 And I have been commanded to be the first of the Muslims. 12 Say, “Indeed, I fear, if I disobey my Lord, the punishment of a great Day. 13 Say, “It is Allah that I worship, being sincere to Him in my religion. 14 So worship whatever you will other than Him. Say, “Indeed, the losers are those who have lost themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. Unquestionably, that is the clear loss. 15 For them will be canopies of Fire above them and canopies below them. Thus does Allah intimidate His servants. O My servants, then fear Me.

The Shaykh : Yes?
O My servants, then fear Me. 16 And those who avoid the Taghut, not worshipping it, and turn to Allah in repentance, for them is the good tidings. So give good tidings to My servants, 17 those who listen to the statement and follow the best of it. Those are the ones whom Allah has guided, and those are the people of understanding.

The Shaykh : But I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan. Allah the Exalted said:
Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, I have been commanded to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion.
[Az-Zumar 39:11]
and so on. And we have spoken about what came before; have we taken the benefits?
The student: No, we have not taken them.

The Shaykh : Yes
