The reward of the patient in this world and the Hereafter
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: Please, if you would be so kind, tell us about what Allah has promised the patient in this world and the Hereafter, and those who work in obedience to Allah?
A: Indeed, Allah created the creation to worship Him alone, with no partner for Him, and He commanded them to do so. He the Exalted said: [Surat al-Dhariyat: 56], and He the Exalted said: [Surat al-Baqarah: 21]. This worship for which they were created and to which they were commanded is that they obey His commands, refrain from His prohibitions, and increase in His remembrance.
The foundation of this worship is tawhid (the oneness of Allah) of Him, the Exalted, in supplicating to Him, fearing Him, hoping in Him, and being sincere to Him in all worship, whether prayer, fasting, or otherwise.
And Allah has promised them much good and a good outcome in this world and the Hereafter. He promised them Paradise and honor in the Hereafter. The Exalted said:[Hud:49] As the Exalted said:[al-Baqarah:155-156], and the Exalted said:[al-Zumar:10] And the Prophet: [al-Nahl:97] And the ProphetSahih al-Bukhari 1469, and the Prophet.
So the patient one has a good outcome in this world and the Hereafter, or he has Paradise and honor in the Hereafter, if he is patient in the mindfulness of Allah, the Exalted, and His obedience, and if he is patient regarding what he is tested with, such as the hardship of life, destitution, poverty, illness, and the like. As Allah, the Exalted, said:[Al-Baqarah 2:177] until He, the Exalted, said: [Surat al-Baqarah: 177].
And the outcome of patience and mindfulness of Allah is good in all circumstances. He the Exalted said regarding the believers with their enemy: [Surat Ali 'Imran: 120].
A: Indeed, Allah created the creation to worship Him alone, with no partner for Him, and He commanded them to do so. He the Exalted said:
And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.
O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous -
The foundation of this worship is tawhid (the oneness of Allah) of Him, the Exalted, in supplicating to Him, fearing Him, hoping in Him, and being sincere to Him in all worship, whether prayer, fasting, or otherwise.
And Allah has promised them much good and a good outcome in this world and the Hereafter. He promised them Paradise and honor in the Hereafter. The Exalted said:
So be patient; indeed, the [best] outcome is for the righteous.
فَاصْبِرْ إِنَّ الْعَاقِبَةَ لِلْمُتَّقِينَbut give good tidings to the patient, (156) Who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return." (157) Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided.
Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account."
Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do.
Nobody can be given a blessing better and greater than patience.
How wonderful is the affair of the believer! Indeed, his entire affair is good for him. If prosperity strikes him, he is grateful, and it is good for him. And if adversity strikes him, he is patient, and it is good for him. And that is not for anyone except the believer.
As Allah, the Exalted, said:
Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in] one who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets
لَيْسَ الْبِرَّ أَنْ تُوَلُّوا وُجُوهَكُمْ قِبَلَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَلَكِنَّ الْبِرَّ مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَالْمَلائِكَةِ وَالْكِتَابِ وَالنَّبِيِّينَand [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the righteous.
And the outcome of patience and mindfulness of Allah is good in all circumstances. He the Exalted said regarding the believers with their enemy:
And if you are patient and fear Allah, their plot will not harm you at all. Indeed, Allah is encompassing of what they do.
