Our Lord, surely You will gather the people for a Day about which there is no doubt
[Ali 'Imran 3:9]
In this verse, there are benefits: Among them is that the Day of Resurrection is certain, with no doubt in it, as He said:
for a Day about which there is no doubt
[Ali 'Imran 3:9]
. Among them is the perfection of the power of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) in gathering all the people on this Day, and yet this gathering does not require a duration;
(13) Indeed, it will be but one shout, (14) And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface.
[An-Nazi'at 79:13-14]
. Among them is the wisdom of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in gathering the people for this Day, because this gathering has what follows it, which is the recompense of every worker for what he did, as the Exalted said:
(9) The Day He will assemble you for the Day of Assembly - that is the Day of Deprivation. And whoever believes in Allah and does righteousness - He will remove from him his misdeeds and admit him to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. That is the great attainment. (10) But the ones who disbelieved and denied Our verses - those are the companions of the Fire, abiding eternally therein; and wretched is the destination.
So this gathering is for a wisdom, which is: the recompense of the worker for his deed, if good then good, and if evil then evil. And among the benefits of the noble verse is that it is obligatory upon us to believe in this Day with a faith in which there is no doubt; if one doubts or denies it, he is not a believer, but rather a disbeliever. The people in this regard are of three categories, or if you wish, say four: a believer with a faith in which there is no doubt, a doubter, a disbeliever who denies, and a disbeliever who argues, meaning that in addition to his denial, he argues and disputes. The disbelievers of Quraysh were of which type? Of the fourth type, the denying arguer. And among the people is one who denies but does not argue, yet in his heart he denies and does not believe. And among the people is one who is hesitant and doubting. And among the people is one who is a believer with a certain faith, as if he sees it with his own eyes in his heart. And among the benefits of the noble verse is the negation of the attribute of breaking a promise from Allah (Mighty and Majestic), as He said:
Indeed, Allah does not fail in His promise."
[Ali 'Imran 3:9]
The negation of this attribute entails His perfection in two things, which are: truthfulness and power. So due to the perfection of the truthfulness of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and the perfection of His power, He does not break His promise; rather, what He has promised must occur.
