Continuation of the interpretation of the verse: ((The believers shall not take the disbelievers as allies instead of the believers...)).

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Regarding supporting them, we mentioned that His saying:
allies أولياء
covers both aspects. As for supporting them, this is never permissible. It is not permissible for us to support a disbeliever against a believer under any circumstances. But is it permissible to support a disbeliever against another disbeliever if the public interest requires it? We say: The believers rejoiced when the Romans overcame the Persians, and they were disbelievers overcoming disbelievers, as Allah the Exalted said:
And that day the believers will rejoice (5) In the victory of Allah. He gives victory to whom He wills
[Ar-Rum 30:4-5]
So, if there is a common enemy for us and for this group of disbelievers, and we know that if we do not support the disbelievers against this disbeliever, he will overcome them and become too strong for us, then in that case, helping him out of necessity is permissible, because we are helping him not for his own sake, since he is a disbeliever, but for the interest of the Muslims. And all of this returns to the public interest. As for if we see a disbeliever seeking help against a Muslim, this is not permissible under any circumstances. For this reason, He said:
Let not believers take disbelievers as allies rather than believers
[Ali 'Imran 3:28]
meaning that those other than the believers will oppose the believers and ally with the disbelievers, so this is impossible. For this reason, the verse came:
Let not believers
[Ali 'Imran 3:28]
and He did not say: "Do not take," because Allah distinguished between His saying:
Let not believers take disbelievers as allies rather than believers
[Ali 'Imran 3:28]
O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies
[Al-Ma'idah 5:51]
O you who have believed, do not take My enemies and your enemies as allies
[Al-Mumtahanah 60:1]
He addressed them directly, but here He said:
Let not believers take disbelievers as allies rather than believers
[Ali 'Imran 3:28]
Yes? So He distinguished between them. This is what some scholars said, stating that Allah did not address the believers directly because this is a shameful matter, and in a shameful matter, direct address is a great shock. For this reason, Allah the Exalted said to the Messenger:
He frowned and turned away, when there came to him the blind man.
and He did not say: "You frowned." This opinion, or what a person might say thinking it is good, has a problem with it, which is the saying of Allah the Exalted:
O you who have believed, do not take the disbelievers as allies instead of the believers. Do you wish to give Allah against yourselves a clear case?
[An-Nisa 4:144]
Here He confronted them with direct address, even though He said:
rather than believers من دون المؤمنين
[Ali 'Imran 3:28]
And on this basis, the guidance mentioned by some contemporary scholars is questionable. We say: Allah expressed it in the third-person form here:
Let not believers
[Ali 'Imran 3:28]
regarding the address, for an eloquence that Allah Mighty and Majestic knows, which we may know or may not know.
Let not believers take disbelievers as allies rather than believers
[Ali 'Imran 3:28]
Did you not answer the questions?

The questioner : Shaykh, may Allah reward you. Your question is about people, meaning,

The Shaykh : Your question. Remove the "mim" here, O Khalid. Remove the "mim." May Allah reward you with good.
