Glory for the Believers

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 21009 )
Q1: How can there be glory for the believers when they are currently weak in the world whose peripheries and center have become corrupt, and the Christians and the Jews are those who dominate the world as they please? How can there be glory for the believers?
A1: Glory for the believers, victory over the enemies, and establishment in the earth are not achieved except by obeying Allah the Exalted and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and by practicing Islam and faith outwardly and inwardly. There are reports in the Qur'an, the Sunnah, and from the righteous Salaf that contain admonition and remembrance. Allah the Exalted said:
(138) Give tidings to the hypocrites that there is for them a painful punishment - (139) Those who take disbelievers as allies instead of the believers. Do they seek with them honor [through power]? But indeed, honor belongs to Allah entirely.
[An-Nisa 4:138-139]
And He the Exalted said:
And Allah will surely support those who support Him. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might. (41) [And they are] those who, if We give them authority in the land, establish prayer and give zakah and enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong. And to Allah belongs the outcome of [all] matters.
[Al-Hajj 22:40-41]
,
And He the Exalted and Majestic said:
Allah has promised those who have believed among you and done righteous deeds that He will surely grant them succession [to authority] upon the earth just as He granted it to those before them and that He will surely establish for them [therein] their religion which He has preferred for them and that He will surely substitute for them, after their fear, security, [for] they worship Me, not associating anything with Meوَعَدَ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنْكُمْ وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَيَسْتَخْلِفَنَّهُمْ فِي الأَرْضِ كَمَا اسْتَخْلَفَ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ وَلَيُمَكِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ دِينَهُمُ الَّذِي ارْتَضَى لَهُمْ وَلَيُبَدِّلَنَّهُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ خَوْفِهِمْ أَمْنًا يَعْبُدُونَنِي لاَ يُشْرِكُونَ بِي شَيْئًا
[An-Nur 24:55]
, and He the Exalted in Majesty said:
O you who have believed, if you support Allah, He will support you and plant firmly your feet.
[Muhammad 47:7]
, along with other noble verses that clarified and made evident: that the establishment of the believers and their glory in this life is conditioned by their fulfilling what Allah has made obligatory upon them, namely His tawhid (the oneness of Allah), His magnification and glorification, acting upon His Book, following the Sunnah of His Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), establishing the prayer, giving zakah, loving the awliya (close friends of Allah) who are the believers, and hating His enemies among the hypocrites and disbelievers, and striving against them; so that the word of Allah is the highest, and the word of those who disbelieved is the lowest, and other necessities of faith. It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the hadith of Ibn 'Umar that he said:
I was sent with the sword before the Hour so that Allah alone would be worshipped, with no partner for Him. And I made my provision under the shadow of my spear. And I made humiliation and degradation upon whoever opposes my command. And whoever imitates a people is one of them.
It was narrated by the Imam Ahmad and Abu Dawud . Thus, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) clarified in this hadith that whoever opposes his command has a share of humiliation and degradation according to his opposition and disobedience. Al-Hafith Ibn Rajab (may Allah have mercy on him) said in his explanation of this hadith: "Among the greatest things by which humiliation is attained is opposing the command of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him): abandoning what he was upon, which is the jihad against the enemies of Allah. So whoever follows the path of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) in jihad is glorified, and whoever abandons jihad while having the ability to do it is humiliated. And the hadith has preceded:
When you trade with 'inah (a buy-back sale used to disguise a loan), and follow the tails of cows, and abandon jihad in the path of Allah—Allah will impose upon you a humiliation that He will not remove from your necks until you return to your religion.
. So whoever abandons what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was upon regarding jihad while having the ability, and occupies himself with it by acquiring the world through its permissible means—humiliation befalls him. How much more so if he occupies himself with jihad by gathering the world through its forbidden means?" This is the end of his words, may Allah have mercy on him. The righteous Salaf, from the Companions and those after them, knew this reality, which is: that glory lies in holding fast to Islam, following the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), striving in the obedience of Allah and His Messenger, and being cautious of the disobedience of Allah and His Messenger,
So words issued from them, among which is what is established from the Commander of the Faithful 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), that he said: "We are a people whom Allah has glorified through Islam, so whenever we seek glory from other than Him, Allah humiliates us." And it is established from Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him), that when the Muslims conquered Cyprus and its people wept and displayed the sadness and humiliation they displayed, Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) sat weeping. So Jabir ibn Nufayr said to him: "O Abu al-Darda' , what makes you weep on a day in which Allah has glorified Islam and its people?" He said, may Allah be pleased with him: "Woe to you, O Jabir , how easy creation is for Allah the Exalted and Majestic when they neglect His command. While it was a dominant nation, apparent in their sovereignty, they abandoned the command of Allah and became as you see." The conclusion is: that every Muslim has the responsibility to realize glory for the believers according to his ability and capacity, so that he himself is established in the command of Allah the Exalted, acting upon Islam and faith, outwardly and inwardly, advising his Muslim brothers, enjoining what is right, forbidding what is wrong, until the affairs of the Muslims are rectified, or he meets Allah in that state, having feared Him according to his capacity, and Allah is the Helper.
