She also says: Please guide us, may you be rewarded, to good deeds that I can perform so that they reach my parents.

The questioner : In its second part, she also says: Please guide us, may you be rewarded, to good deeds that I can perform so that they reach my parents.

The Shaykh : The good deeds that can reach her father, the best, most excellent, and most beneficial of them is what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) guided to, where he said:
When a man dies, his acts come to an end, but three, recurring charity, or knowledge (by which people) benefit, or a pious child, who prays for him (for the deceased). إذا مات الإنسان انقطع عمله إلا من ثلاثة : إلا من صدقة جارية أو علم ينتفع به أو ولد صالح يدعوا له
Sahih Muslim 1631
.
So supplication is the best thing a person gifts to his deceased, whether a father, mother, relative, or friend. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) guided to it, and he did not mention deeds, meaning he did not mention that a person should do something for the deceased, but rather he said:
or a pious child, who prays for him أو ولد صالح يدعو له
Sahih Muslim 1631
.
So what we should do is increase our supplication for our deceased, and make our righteous deeds for ourselves, for we will need these deeds just as those deceased need them.
