Tafsir of Surat al-Ma'idah-04b
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : About the tawaf of 'A'ishah and Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with them both) at the House during the Farewell Pilgrimage?
The Shaykh : The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) prevented 'A'ishah from performing tawaf, and likewise Safiyyah. But was it 'A'ishah and Safiyyah who were required to perform wudu'? Or did they have menstruation? A woman with menstruation is not granted a dispensation to remain in the mosque. Therefore, if a menstruating woman is compelled to perform tawaf, we tell her: perform tawaf, but hold back [your blood] so that the mosque is not contaminated with blood, and perform tawaf out of dire necessity.
