Then Allah the Exalted said:
Allah has created every [living] creature from water وَاللَّهُ خَلَقَ كُلَّ دَابَّةٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ
[An-Nur 24:45]
After mentioning the sign of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, in the upper world, He mentioned His sign in the lower world, which is His saying:
Allah has created every [living] creature وَاللَّهُ خَلَقَ كُلَّ دَابَّةٍ
[An-Nur 24:45]

The term "dabbah" (living creature) refers to everything that crawls on the earth, even though it is commonly used for four-legged animals. It was said: "The dabbah is the one that walks on four legs." This is according to custom and common usage. Therefore, a human is not called a "dabbah" in common usage. If someone were to say to you, "O dabbah," you might quarrel with him, but in the language, everything that crawls on the earth is a dabbah. Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said:
And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allah is its provision وَمَا مِنْ دَابَّةٍ فِي الأَرْضِ إِلَّا عَلَى اللَّهِ رزقها
[Hud:6] And His saying:
Of water من ماء
This is the origin of the creation of living creatures from water. The author's statement "from semen" is not correct, because not every living creature is from semen, but every living creature is from water, whether semen or not. As for that which is born through reproduction, its water is semen. As for that which is born through spontaneous generation, its water is moisture, meaning these things that are generated are generated from putrefaction and moisture. As for that which is born through reproduction, yes, it is born from semen, having semen from which Allah creates it. So the word
