The benefits of the saying of Allah the Exalted: << وأتبعناهم في هذه الدنيا لعنة . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . >

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
And We caused to overtake them in this world a curse, and on the Day of Resurrection they will be of the despised. وَأَتْبَعْنَاهُمْ فِي هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا لَعْنَةً وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ هُمْ مِنَ الْمَقْبُوحِينَ
[Al-Qasas:42] It is derived from this verse that the punishment of the family of Pharaoh extended to the Day of Resurrection through the bad remembrance of them,
And We followed them in this world with a curse. وأتبعناهم في هذه الدنيا لعنة
for whoever mentions the family of Pharaoh mentions them with evil, hatred, and aversion.
And among the benefits of the verse is also the belittling of this world, for His saying:
in this worldفي هذه الدنيا
It is called "near" (dunya) because of the nearness of its rank, and it is a dunya. The word dunya is the feminine of adna, and it is from the nearness, both physical and conceptual. As for the physical nearness, it is because it precedes the Hereafter, so it is nearer to the created beings than the Hereafter. As for the conceptual nearness, it is because of what it contains of deficiency in all its perfections; there is no perfection in this world except that it is deficient. And now, if you reflect on all the harms and benefits of this world, you will find them mixed with harm and danger, even time, as the poet said:
A day is against us and a day is for us, a day we are sad and a day we are glad.
And if you reflect on this, you will find it is always so. And on this basis, we say: this world was named so for two reasons: the physical nearness and the conceptual nearness. The physical nearness is its closeness and its precedence over the Hereafter, and the conceptual nearness is that there is nothing in it that is complete except that it is mixed with deficiency.
And among the benefits of the verse is that the curse—may Allah protect us from it—which was distributed... will be upon them in the Hereafter, for His saying:
and on the Day of Resurrection they will be of the despised. ويوم القيامة هم من المقبوحين
[Al-Qasas 28:42]
because al-muqbaah means the one who is driven away and despised, and al-lan (curse) is expulsion and driving away.
