Reading from the author's words with commentary on them and collating the manuscripts: "Also, visiting the grave to mark it as a festival is in itself forbidden

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: "Also, visiting the grave to mark it as a festival is in itself forbidden, whether one ties up one's tent or not, and whether it is on the Day of 'Arafah or another day. It is among the spatial festivals along with the temporal ones
As for what has been innovated in the festivals, such as beating horns and drums, this is disliked in the festival and otherwise; the festival has no exclusive claim to it. Likewise, wearing silk or anything else prohibited by the Shari'ah, and abandoning the sunnahs"

The Shaykh : It appears that the Shaykh (may Allah have mercy on him) intended by the word "disliked" the dislike of prohibition, i.e., the dislike of prohibition, because drums and the like and flutes on the days of the festivals are among the forbidden things. The utmost concession is the hand drum. Yes. And for this reason he said, "Likewise, wearing silk," even though wearing silk is not permissible for men except out of need. Yes.
The reader: And leaving "the festival having no exclusive claim to it. Likewise, wearing silk or anything else prohibited by the Shari'ah, and abandoning the sunnahs, is of the same kind as committing religious innovations. The seasons should be established as the earliest predecessors established them, with the prayer, the prescribed sermon, the takbir, charity in al-Fitr, and the slaughter in al-Adha. Some people fall short in the prescribed takbir. Some imams leave off preaching to the men and women, as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to preach to the men and then the women"

The Shaykh : Correct, as the Shaykh said. We are accustomed to imams, before loudspeakers were introduced, preaching to the men and the women. You could not hear it or benefit from it, but they attended the prayer, which is better, and made du'a. But now, praise be to Allah, the one who preaches to the men preaches to the men and women together, so there is no need for two sermons. But suppose we are in a village with no loudspeaker; the sunnah for the imam is to preach to the men first in the festival prayer, then turn to the women and give them a special sermon, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did. I do not know if this is done in your country or not. Yes, it is not done.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : But before the loudspeakers, and loudspeakers are not in every place either.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Yes
The student: ...

The Shaykh : There is no power or might except with Allah. It is not found... and praise be to Allah. Yes.
The reader: "Some do not mention in their sermon what should be mentioned, but turn to what has little benefit. Some do not slaughter after the prayer in the prayer ground, which is abandoning the sunnah, along with other matters of the sunnah"

The Shaykh : And we ask Allah to forgive us for abandoning the sunnah. It is the sunnah for a person, especially the imam, to take his sacrificial animal to the festival prayer ground and slaughter it there. The Companions used to do this; the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would permit them to do so. They would take their sacrificial animals to the prayer ground, and he would also take his sacrificial animal to the prayer ground and slaughter it there in order to benefit the poor present. So everyone would eat; this person would take from this one, and that person from that one. This is the sunnah. I have not known anyone in our time to practice it, except perhaps some in the desert who have not mixed with people. This is not condemned in them, nor is it considered strange for them to do this. I have heard that some of them do this. Yes.
The reader: "Some do not slaughter after the prayer in the prayer ground, which is abandoning the sunnah, along with other matters of the sunnah. For the religion is doing what is right and enjoining it, and leaving what is wrong and forbidding it. So, as for the spatial festivals, they are divided"

The Shaykh : Also, some of the jurists (may Allah have mercy on them) said that it is recommended for the one in i'tikaf on the Day of al-Fitr to go out wearing his i'tikaf clothes. They reasoned that they are a trace of worship, so one should not adorn oneself by removing them, just as we said regarding the blood of a martyr: it is not washed off but remains as it is. But this is an analogy with a difference, and an analogy contrary to the action of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) used to prepare for the festivals with the most beautiful clothes. So we say that leaving beautiful clothes for the one in i'tikaf is contrary to the sunnah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform i'tikaf and wear beautiful clothes on the festivals. Yes.
