And We believe in the punishment of the grave for the wrongdoers who are disbelievers: << And if you could see when the wrongdoers are in the throes of death, and the angels are extending their hands, saying: "Give up your souls"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : All right, so let us move on to the second paragraph:
"And We believe in the punishment of the grave for the wrongdoers who are disbelievers". We believe in the punishment of the grave for the wrongdoers who are disbelievers, based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And if you could but see when the wrongdoers are in the overwhelming pangs of death while the angels extend their hands
[Al-An'am 6:93]
Which angels? The angels who descended to take their souls. These are in the throes of death, meaning in the agonies that overwhelm them. That is to say: if you could see these people, you would see something astonishing. So what is the answer to the "if"? It is omitted, and it is omitted in such cases so that the mind can imagine it in every possible way.
when the wrongdoers are in the overwhelming pangs of death
[Al-An'am 6:93]
The wrongdoers here refers to the disbelievers; it means the disbelievers, based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And the disbelievers - they are the wrongdoers.
[Al-Baqarah 2:254]
while the angels extend their hands
[Al-An'am 6:93]
extending them
Get out, your souls
. Glory be to Allah! This indicates that they are extremely stingy with their souls, and they do not wish for their souls to depart, because, may Allah protect us, they are being informed of the anger of Allah and the punishment of Allah. So the soul recoils, scattering throughout the body in flight from what it has been warned of. Then it says:
Get out, your souls
Give us our souls. Imagine this scene, as if these people do not want to hand their souls over to the angels.
Then it says:
Today you will be awarded the punishment of [extreme] humiliation
[Al-An'am 6:93]
The "al" in "today" is the article of present reference. "Today" means the day when the angels come to take their souls
you will be awarded the punishment of [extreme] humiliation
[Al-An'am 6:93]
meaning the punishment of humiliation
for what you used to say against Allah other than the truth and [that] you were, toward His verses, being arrogant." بما كنتم تقولون على الله غير الحق وكنتم عن ءاياته تستكبرون
[Al-An'am 6:93]
. For two reasons: lying about Allah, and being arrogant about worshipping Allah. The "ba" here indicates causality.
These are two pieces of evidence from the Qur'an for the bliss of the grave and the punishment of the grave. And there are other proofs.
As for the Sunnah, it has been transmitted in a manner of mass transmission (mutawatir) without parallel. Every Muslim says in every prayer: "I seek refuge in Allah from the punishment of the Hellfire, and from the punishment of the grave," due to the command of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to do so. Therefore, the punishment of the grave is transmitted by mass transmission without parallel. That is to say, all the hadiths that are transmitted by mass transmission cannot be like the hadiths of the punishment of the grave, because the punishment of the grave is recited by everyone. It is similar to the mass transmission of the Qur'an, which is recited by the young and the old. Every person says in his prayer: "I seek refuge in Allah from the punishment of the Hellfire, and from the punishment of the grave."
