Loving the Messengers, honoring them, and praising them with what befits them, for they are the Messengers of Allah the Exalted and the elite of His servants, who stood for Allah in His worship

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"Thirdly: Loving the Messengers, honoring them, and praising them with what befits them".
This is also among the fruits of faith in the Messengers: that you love the Messengers, even those who were not sent to you; it is obligatory for you to love them, honor them, respect them, and magnify them. Even if someone insults your Messenger, it is not permissible for you to insult his Messenger, out of respect for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) in any time. Likewise, praising them with what befits them, not that a person should praise them in a way that takes them out of the state of servitude. Praise them with what befits them. The best description of the Messenger is what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) described himself with when he said:
I am merely a servant,’ so say: '[He is] Allah’s servant and His Messenger.’ إنما أنا عبد فقولوا عبد الله ورسوله
Ash-Shama'il Al-Muhammadiyah 329Sahih (Zubair `Aliza'i)
This is the best praise, the best thing. A servant, and what is more noble for a person than being a servant of Allah? A Messenger, and what is greater in right than the right of one who is a Messenger over creation? So then, you give him his right in the aspect of Allah and his right in the aspect of creation. This is the best description of the Messenger. As for praising them with what is not in them, such as saying: Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) knows the unseen, and that he manages the universe, and as al-Busiri said in his famous Burdah, addressing the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him):
"O noblest of creation, I have no one to take refuge in but You *** When the general calamity befalls".
The general calamity is the general event, such as earthquakes, floods, and the like. He says:
"I have no one to take refuge in but You" So what about Allah? Does one not take refuge in Him? This is major shirk (associating partners with Allah), indeed greater than shirk. This is tawhid (the oneness of Allah) of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) in lordship, and forgetting Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He).
"O noblest of creation, I have no one to take refuge in but You *** When the general calamity befalls"
"If You are not taking my hand on the Day of Resurrection *** With pardon, then say: O slip of the foot"
Who is the one who will be punished on the Day of Resurrection for this verse? The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), meaning: If You are not pardoning me, then say: O slip of the foot. So then, Allah the Exalted has no share in this world or the Hereafter.
Then he said:
"For from Your generosity is the world and its neighbor, *** And from Your knowledge is the knowledge of the Tablet and the Pen"
From Your generosity, meaning: not all of Your generosity, but from Your generosity are the world and its twin, which is the Hereafter, and from Your knowledge is the knowledge of the Tablet and the Pen. Meaning: some of Your knowledge, otherwise You know more than this.
Some scholars said: "What did he leave for Allah after that?" If the world and the Hereafter are for the Messenger, or from the Messenger's generosity, then nothing remains for Allah. There is no doubt that if the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had heard this, he would have killed the one who said it, because if he said to the one who said "What Allah willed and what you willed"
Have you made me equal to Allah? أجعلتني لله ندا
how much more so for one who says such words?
And the wonder is that those afflicted with the innovation of celebrating the Mawlid repeat such words, and they consider it among the best things, which indicates that innovation leads only to innovation and calamity. Good.
Loving the Messengers (peace and blessings be upon them) necessitates following them. Loving the Messengers necessitates following them, necessarily, because every beloved one, what does he do? He looks toward his beloved and sees what he does, to the extent that he imitates him not only in his voluntary actions but even in his involuntary actions. Just as if a person is hunched, you find him walking hunched, and just as if a person sways in his walk by nature, you find this person swaying in his walk, let alone the voluntary actions he does. So every person, if his love for a person is sincere, that person will be his model and his guide.
And it says: "For they are the Messengers of Allah and the elite of His servants" Meaning: We love them and honor them for these two reasons: that they are the Messengers of Allah. Allah the Exalted entrusted them with His revelation and made them judges over the necks of His servants, and this is among the greatest sources of pride for them: that they were trustworthy and wise. Why are you distracted? He made them trustworthy and wise, meaning they judge between people and they are the trustees of Allah regarding His revelation.
It says: "The elite of His servants" There is no doubt that the most devoted of people to Allah are the Messengers. And read the biography of their last and final one, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and it will become clear to you that he realized servitude completely. And Allah described Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, with servitude in the highest stations. So He said in defending him:
And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant [Muhammad], then produce a surah the like thereof وإن كنتم في ريب مما نزلنا على عبدنا فاءتوا بسورة من مثله
[Al-Baqarah 2:23]
of what We have sent down to Our servant مما نزلنا على عبدنا
. And He said when He bestowed upon him the revelation of the Qur'an:
Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion upon His Servant تبارك الذي نزل الفرقان على عبده
[Al-Furqan 25:1]
, and He said when He bestowed upon him the Night Journey:
Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al-Aqsa سبحان الذي أسرى بعبده ليلا من المسجد الحرام إلى المسجد الأقصى
[Al-Isra 17:1]
, and He said in the station of His bestowal of the Ascension:
So He revealed to His servant what He revealed فأوحى إلى عبده ما أوحى
, and the verses in this regard are many. And if Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), is from the elite of the servants, then we have no doubt that it is obligatory to love him, because it is obligatory for us to love everyone who loves Allah, and this is the love for Allah, which is one of the strongest ties of faith.
"They stood for Allah in His worship" And there is no doubt in this that the Messengers are the most steadfast of people in the worship of Allah. And the second is also "They stood in conveying His message" They conveyed it as they were commanded; they did not care about torture, denial, mockery, or ridicule, but they conveyed it as they were commanded
O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to you from your Lord, and if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message يا أيها الرسول بلغ ما أنزل إليك من ربك فإن لم تفعل فما بلغت رسالته
[Al-Ma'idah 5:67]
those who convey the messages of Allah and fear Him and do not fear anyone but Allah الذين يبلغون رسالات الله ويخشونه ولا يخشون أحدا إلا الله
[Al-Ahzab 33:39]
"And advising His servants" Yes, the Messengers are the most sincere of creation to creation. And read the biography of their last one, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and it will become clear to you the truth of what we said. "And being patient with their harm". So they were patient with the harm, although they were made to feel the harm from the time they were sent. Allah the Exalted said:
(23) Indeed, it is We who have sent down to you, [O Muhammad], the Qur'an progressively. (24) So be patient for the decision of your Lord إنا نحن نزلنا عليك القرآن تنزيلا فاصبر لحكم ربك
[Al-Insan 76:23-24]
regarding His legal decree and His destined decree. Perhaps the reader expects: We have revealed the Qur'an to you by revelation, so be grateful for the favor of your Lord for that. This is what a person expects, but He said:
So be patient for the decision of your Lord and do not obey from among them a sinner or ungrateful [disbeliever]. فاصبر لحكم ربك ولا تطع منهم آثما أو كفورا
[Al-Insan 76:24]
indicating that he will receive harm as a result of this revelation, and this is the reality. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was harmed with the greatest harm, but he was patient. Allah the Exalted said:
And certainly were messengers denied before you, but they were patient over [the effects of] denial, and they were harmed until Our victory came to them. ولقد كذبت رسل من قبلك فصبروا على ما كذبوا وأوذوا حتى آتاهم نصرنا
[Al-An'am 6:34]
. And in this is an indication, and Allah knows best, that when harm occurs, victory follows it. And the hadith confirms this, which is the saying of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him):
Know that victory is with patience, and that relief is with distress, and that with hardship there is ease واعلم أن النصر مع الصبر، وأن الفرج مع الكرب، وأن مع العسر يسرا
.
And it says: "And advising His servants and being patient with their harm".
Among the most severe things that happened to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was the harm that befell him when he went out to the people of Ta'if to call them to Allah. The people of Makkah had denied him and harmed him, so he went out to Ta'if hoping that they would respond to him, but, refuge in Allah, they met him with the most severe punishment.
The historians mentioned that they lined up in two rows and threw stones at him until he fled. He fled, his face bleeding, not knowing where his face was, and he did not regain consciousness until Qarn ath-Tha'labayn. It was as if he was walking without realizing he was walking, but Allah guided him to the path. He did not regain consciousness until Qarn ath-Tha'labayn, and his face was bloodied (peace and blessings be upon him). And despite that, look at his forbearance with his power. The Angel of the Mountains came with Jibril. Jibril said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
This is the Angel of the Mountains. Allah the Exalted commanded him to do what you say. So the Angel of the Mountains submitted and informed that Allah the Exalted commanded him to do what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) says. And he said to him: If you wish, I will collapse the two mountains upon them, meaning the two mountains of Mecca. But the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), with his forbearance, said: I will wait for them
Do you want me to crush them
I rather hope that God will produce from their descendants such persons as will worship Allah, the One, and will not ascribe partners to Him. لعل الله أن يخرج من أصلابهم من يعبد الله لا يشرك به شيئا
Sahih Muslim 1795
upon him be the prayers and peace of Allah. He did not say, "Who will help me? Who will support me?" No, although his help and support is worship, but he said, "Who worships Allah and associates nothing with Him." So look at the pardon with power, and the lack of retaliation with dignity, in the case of the Messengers (peace and blessings be upon them). So no one is more patient with harm than the Messengers.
And if we know that the Messengers are the most sincere of creation to the servants, let us look at Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah. We find that he is the most sincere of creation to the servants of Allah. This is one point. Then let us look at his speech; we find it is the most eloquent speech and the clearest speech. Then let us look at his knowledge of Allah, His names, and His attributes; we find that he is the most knowledgeable of creation about Allah (Mighty and Majestic), His names, His attributes, and His rulings. So the speech of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) thus meets the descriptions that require the acceptance of speech when they are gathered. The first: knowledge, the second: truthfulness, the third: sincerity, and the fourth: eloquence. So the speech of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) contains these four types.
The student: Knowledge, truthfulness, sincerity, and fourthly, eloquence.

The Shaykh : Eloquence. Any speech that possesses these four qualities must be taken at its apparent meaning, and we must not deviate from it to the right or to the left. This is one of the strongest rational proofs for the obligation to accept what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reported from his Lord without any hesitation. If we were to ask: Was the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) ignorant when he reported what he reported from his Lord? Answer? No, rather he is the most knowledgeable of people regarding Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Was he a liar? No, he is the most truthful of people in speech. Was he a deceiver? No, rather he is the most sincere of the community toward the community. The fourth: Was his speech characterized by inarticulateness, complexity, and lack of understanding? The answer is: No, his speech is the most eloquent, the clearest, and the best of speech. In fact, he (peace and blessings be upon him) was granted the honor that Allah the Exalted gathered the words for him and condensed the speech for him in a concise manner, such that he would bring a short sentence that carries great meanings. This is from the favor of Allah the Exalted upon him and upon his community. May Allah's prayers and peace be upon him.
Patience: He is undoubtedly the most patient of creation, the most patient of creation, because (peace and blessings be upon him) was subjected to the harm that you have heard part of.
And among the most amazing and most humiliating of the harms that befell him was that one day he was praying under the Ka'bah, and the Ka'bah and the Sacred Mosque are the most secure place on the face of the earth. He was praying as other people pray, and a group of Quraysh was around him. Some of them said to others: Which of you will go to the she-camel of so-and-so's family? They knew that it had been slaughtered, so he would come with its intestines, its dung, and its blood and place it on Muhammad while he is prostrating. So their most wretched one sprang up and brought it and placed it on the back of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was prostrating. Even if a Bedouin from the farthest part of the Arabian Peninsula had come to Mecca, Quraysh would not have harmed him. And they knew this; they knew his truthfulness and his trustworthiness, yet they did to him what they did at the House of Allah (Mighty and Majestic)! We ask Allah for safety. So the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) remained prostrating while they were laughing, chuckling, and swaying at what they had done to Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, until his young daughter Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) came and removed the intestines, dung, and blood from him. Then he stood up and completed his prayer. After the closing salam, he raised his hands to his Lord (Mighty and Majestic) and supplicated against them. Not one of them escaped but was killed. All of these were killed at Badr and dragged into the well, their stench bothering people, and they were humiliated, may Allah protect us, in this world, and they will be humiliated in the Hereafter.
The important point is that the Messengers (peace and blessings be upon them) endured with great patience the harm of their people.
Moses (peace be upon him) was harmed by his people, and they were the chosen ones of the world at that time. They harmed him severely. They heard him addressing Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and they heard the speech of Allah, and then they said: We will not believe in you until we see Allah openly. I seek refuge in Allah from these people, and they were the chosen ones of his people. They said: We will not believe in you until we see Allah openly.
And among their harms was that he used to bathe while covering himself, and it was not possible for him to bathe naked, while the Children of Israel used to bathe naked, bathing in the nude. So they said: Moses does not cover himself from us except because he has a scrotal disease. A scrotal disease is a condition in which the testicles swell. They said Moses has a scrotal disease. Why? Why does he not bathe naked as we bathe in the nude? So Allah, Glorified and Exalted, showed them a sign of overwhelming power regarding Moses, an overwhelming power over him. He was bathing one day and had placed his garment on a stone. Do you know the stone? What is it? No, I mean the brother.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Yes. And the attention is good.
In the dictionary, when something known is mentioned, it is written "so-and-so" and then after it a "mim" meaning known, so it does not need us to explain it. And the stone is known. I did not ask about it because I do not know it, but perhaps our brother has attention. The important thing is that he placed his garment on the stone, and the stone ran away with the garment. By the command of whom? By the command of Allah. So it went, and Moses was running after it, saying: My garment, O stone, my garment, O stone. How, Ahmad, does he address a stone? Huh?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Do you understand my speech now? Do you understand it? That Moses placed his garment on the stone, and the stone ran away, so Moses went running after it saying: My garment, O stone. He addressed it because its running away with his garment is the action of an intelligent being that is addressed. So he said: My garment, O stone, until the stone stopped before the Children of Israel, and they saw that there was nothing in Moses but goodness, he was sound and healthy. And in this, Allah the Exalted says:
O you who have believed, be not like those who abused Moses; then Allah cleared him of what they said. And he, in the sight of Allah, was distinguished. يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا تكونوا كالذين آذوا موسى فبرأه الله مما قالوا وكان عند الله وجيها
[Al-Ahzab 33:69]
. We ask Allah to grant us and you the magnification of our Messengers in the manner that He is pleased with from us. Indeed, He is Capable of all things.

The questioner : Shaykh.
