Do you say that the prayer of the middle of the night suffices for the Dhuha prayer? My desire is to pray both the middle of the night and the Dhuha. Is that permissible? And sometimes, if I pray 'Isha, I pray Witr after it, fearing that sleep will overcome me and I will not pray it. And sometimes I get up in the middle of the night and pray Witr again, in addition to my prayer of it after 'Isha. What is your opinion on that?

The questioner : Do you say that the prayer of the middle of the night suffices for the Dhuha prayer? My desire is to pray both the middle of the night and the Dhuha. Is that permissible? And sometimes, if I pray 'Isha, I pray Witr after it, fearing that sleep will overcome me and I will not pray it. And sometimes I get up in the middle of the night and pray Witr again, in addition to my prayer of it after 'Isha. What is your opinion on that?
The Shaykh : Combining the night prayer with the Dhuha prayer is permissible. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned that every joint of a person is given a charity every morning, and he listed the types of charity he mentioned, he said:Sahih Muslim 720 This is evidence that two rak'ahs of Dhuha are a recommended practice (sunnah), because they suffice for all the charities that are due upon a person for every limb and every joint. So combining the night prayer with the Dhuha prayer is permissible. As for performing Witr at the beginning of the night and then performing Witr again during the night, this is an error. Witr is one rak'ah at the end of the night, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, and he said: Sahih Muslim 751b So there is no two Witr in one night, but only one Witr. Based on this, we say: If you performed Witr at the beginning of the night and you fear that you will not get up at the end of the night, but then you are able to get up at the end of the night, you pray, and you pray in pairs, and you do not repeat the Witr again. However, if you hope to get up at the end of the night, then it is better to delay the Witr until the end of the night when you get up. If it happens that you hoped to get up at the end of the night but did not get up and did not pray Witr, then you make up the Witr during the day, meaning in the Dhuha. But you make it up as an even number. If it is your habit to pray Witr with three rak'ahs, you pray four. If it is your habit to pray four and pray Witr with one rak'ah, you pray six rak'ahs, and so on, making the Witr an even number. This is because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when sleep or pain overcame him, would pray twelve rak'ahs during the day. Yes.
The questioner : Do you pray them at any time you wish, or is there a specific time for them, like the Dhuha, for example?
The Shaykh : The Dhuha is better and more excellent, because it is faster and more pure.
The questioner : Yes, if you did not remember, for example, until after?
The Shaykh : If you did not remember until after the 'Asr prayer.
The questioner : Yes.
The Shaykh : You pray it after the 'Asr prayer.
