Continuation of the benefits of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “O my people, the dominion is yours today, and you are prominent in the land. So who will save us from the punishment of Allah if it comes to us?” Pharaoh said, “I do not show you anything but what I see, and I do not guide you except the way of success.”

And know that when I say that this man’s eloquence is good, or his precautions, or something similar, I do not mean that I am telling you about a past story and a past history. No, I want you to take a lesson from it that you will follow, because as long as we praise this man for his speech and his handling of matters, it means that we are encouraging the following of his path.
And among the benefits of this noble verse is that the family of Pharaoh had prevailed in Egypt and appeared over it, and they had no rival, as He said:[Ghafir 40:29] And so Pharaoh became arrogant and did not submit to Musa, because Musa was from the Children of Israel, and they were a few, humiliated in Egypt, and the dominance belonged to the Copts.
And among its benefits is that prominence and dominance may be a cause of arrogance and insolence, except for whom Allah guides. Some people, when Allah the Exalted gives them a cause of elevation, it only increases their humility toward the truth and toward creation. And some people, when Allah the Exalted gives them elevation, it becomes a cause for them to exalt themselves above creation and be arrogant toward the truth. And this is a trial that a person must address in himself. If Allah gives him wealth, he should not boast and exalt himself and be arrogant. Indeed, the One who gave him this wealth is able to destroy it for him. He should not say, when Allah gives him knowledge: “I am a scholar, and I am who I am,” and then exalt himself above the truth and above creation. Rather, a person must, whenever Allah gives him knowledge, increase in humility. This is what I say, and I hope to be characterized by it, as are you. So a person must know this matter, and that Allah may test a person with something that may be a cause for his exaltation and arrogance toward the truth and toward creation, so let him beware of this matter.
And among the benefits of the noble verse is the strength of this man’s faith, and that there is no repeller or preventer of what Allah wills, as He said:[Ghafir 40:29] And this indicates the perfection of his certainty, may Allah have mercy on him and be pleased with him, where he believed that if the punishment of Allah comes, there is no turning back from it.
And among its benefits is also the gentleness in speech, so that the person addressed feels as if he is the first one intended by this matter or this address, as He said:[Ghafir 40:29] And it may be said: There is an indication in this that when the punishment descends, it will encompass the righteous and the wicked, and His saying: [Ghafir 40:29] is intended in its literal meaning, meaning that he will be afflicted with what afflicted them. And the evidence for this is the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Al-Anfal 8:25] And this is not far-fetched.
And among the benefits of the noble verse is that when the punishment of Allah descends, there is no turning back from it, and the evidence for this is the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Ghafir 40:84-85].
Is anyone excepted from this? No, everyone to whom the punishment of Allah comes will not be saved, even if they believe. So no one is excepted from this except the people of Yunus:[Yunus 10:98] meaning, when the punishment descended upon them, [Yunus 10:98] And why were the people of Yunus specifically singled out? For a wisdom, because Allah the Glorious and Exalted cannot single out anyone with something except for a wisdom. People are equal in His sight [Al-Hujurat 49:13].
The wisdom is that Yunus, peace be upon him, left his people in anger before he was permitted to do so, and it seemed that he did not complete the call, so the complete proof was not established against them. For this reason, they were saved when they believed after seeing the punishment. So their salvation had a wisdom, which was the departure of their prophet in anger before he was permitted to do so, so it seemed that he did not complete the establishment of the proof against them. So there was a type of excuse for them in this, and Allah the Glorious and Exalted saved them.
Now, this poses a difficulty with a verse that whenever I read it, I say how can this be? Noah said to his people:[Nuh 71:4] How did he say that if they believe, their sins will be forgiven and they will be delayed until a specified term, and then he said: [Nuh 71:4] So the first says: The second says: [Nuh 71:4]?
Meaning, I warn you of the punishment, for when it comes, it will not be delayed. But if you believe, I will delay you until a specified term. And on this basis, there is no contradiction in the verse. Yes.
Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said: and so on.
In this phrase and the one after it is evidence of Pharaoh’s deception, his fraud, his lying, and his misguidance, because he deceived his people by saying:[Ghafir 40:29] And he lied in his saying: [Ghafir 40:29] certainly, and he lied in his saying: [Ghafir 40:29] according to one of the two possibilities.
And among the benefits of the noble verse is that the people of falsehood may have ornamentation in their speech to deceive, because a leader like this, whose leadership has reached the point that they made him a god, if he says:[Ghafir 40:29] he will certainly deceive his people. And on this basis, we must beware of the deception of some people when they say, “We want such and such, and we want such and such” of reform. We must look at their actions: do their actions testify to their words? If that is the case, they are truthful and righteous. And if they are the opposite, they are liars and deceivers, deceiving with the ornamentation of speech. For this reason, a person who has insight is not deceived by the appearance of words, but rather he measures what he says, or considers what he says by what he does. So if he sees that his actions contradict his words, he knows that he is a liar and a deceiver. And if he sees that his actions confirm his words, he becomes truthful, and he becomes sincere, his inner self conforming to his outer appearance.
And among the benefits of this noble verse is that everyone knows that success is sought and that misguidance is disliked, taken from the second phrase. So they know that success is a sought-after matter. Every person, even the disbeliever, sees that success is a sought-after matter. So what is the true success? Is it following desire or following guidance? The second one, following guidance. But deception is a problem.
And among the benefits of this noble verse is that the family of Pharaoh had prevailed in Egypt and appeared over it, and they had no rival, as He said:
[your being] dominant in the land
And among its benefits is that prominence and dominance may be a cause of arrogance and insolence, except for whom Allah guides. Some people, when Allah the Exalted gives them a cause of elevation, it only increases their humility toward the truth and toward creation. And some people, when Allah the Exalted gives them elevation, it becomes a cause for them to exalt themselves above creation and be arrogant toward the truth. And among the benefits of the noble verse is the strength of this man’s faith, and that there is no repeller or preventer of what Allah wills, as He said:
who would protect us from the punishment of Allah if it came to us
And among its benefits is also the gentleness in speech, so that the person addressed feels as if he is the first one intended by this matter or this address, as He said:
But who would protect us from the punishment of Allah if it came to us?
But who would protect us from the punishment of Allah if it came to us?
And fear a trial which will not strike those who have wronged among you exclusively
And among the benefits of the noble verse is that when the punishment of Allah descends, there is no turning back from it, and the evidence for this is the saying of Allah the Exalted:
(84) And when they saw Our punishment, they said," We believe in Allah alone and disbelieve in that which we used to associate with Him." (85) But never did their faith benefit them once they saw Our punishment. [It is] the established way of Allah which has preceded among His servants. And the disbelievers thereupon lost [all].
Is anyone excepted from this? No, everyone to whom the punishment of Allah comes will not be saved, even if they believe. So no one is excepted from this except the people of Yunus:
Then has there not been a [single] city that believed so its faith benefited it
فلولا كانت قرية آمنت فنعفها إيمانهاexcept the people of Jonah? When they believed, We removed from them the punishment of disgrace
Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you
The wisdom is that Yunus, peace be upon him, left his people in anger before he was permitted to do so, and it seemed that he did not complete the call, so the complete proof was not established against them. For this reason, they were saved when they believed after seeing the punishment. Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed
Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed
We will delay you until a specified term
Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed
Meaning, I warn you of the punishment, for when it comes, it will not be delayed. But if you believe, I will delay you until a specified term. And on this basis, there is no contradiction in the verse. Yes.
Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said:
Pharaoh said ...
In this phrase and the one after it is evidence of Pharaoh’s deception, his fraud, his lying, and his misguidance, because he deceived his people by saying:

ما أريكم إلا ما أرى وما أهديكم إلا سبيل الرشادI do not guide you except to the way of right conduct."
I do not show you except what I see
And among the benefits of the noble verse is that the people of falsehood may have ornamentation in their speech to deceive, because a leader like this, whose leadership has reached the point that they made him a god, if he says:
