In this verse: the excellence of the address of this believing man when he was gentle in calling to Allah the Exalted in his saying: .
And among its benefits: that it is befitting for the caller to remind those he calls of the favor of Allah upon them so that they submit and give thanks for this favor, due to His saying:[Ghafir 40:29].
And among the benefits of the noble verse: the excellence of the caution of this believing man in his saying:[Ghafir 40:29] meaning that as for the future, your dominion may be removed, but give thanks for the present favor.
And among the benefits of this noble verse: that the consideration is for the present state as it is now, whereas the future may see changes in circumstances, but we are addressed and commanded to look at the present state now.
Branching from this issue is a social issue, which is that some people propose their daughter to a man who is not upright, meaning he is not a disbeliever, but he is an open sinner by smoking, shaving his beard, or dealing in usury or the like. So greed takes him and he accepts the proposal, then he says: perhaps Allah will guide him, or perhaps this committed daughter will strive in his guidance. It is said: We do not look to the future; the future belongs to Allah. Rather, this man may mislead the woman because he is stronger than her in that regard. So you are now commanded to look at the present state, whereas you are not commanded to look at the future, and it is not permissible for you to look at it because it is a future unknown. So you now know the state you are in and act according to what it is now. We take this from the saying of this believing man:.
And know that when I say the excellence of this man’s address or his cautions or the like, it does not mean that I am informing you about a past story and a past history. No, I want you to take a lesson from it to follow, because as long as we praise this man for his address and his handling of matters, it means that we are encouraging following his good path.
And among the benefits of this noble verse: that the family of Pharaoh had prevailed in Egypt.
