The benefits of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “And when We bestow a favor upon man, he turns away and stretches himself out, and when evil touches him, he is one of the many who supplicate.”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
And when We bestow favor upon the disbeliever, he turns away and distances himself
[Al-Isra 17:83]
It is derived from this noble verse: that man, in his nature as a human, is arrogant in times of prosperity, but he turns to Allah in times of adversity, as He said:
And when We bestow favor upon the disbeliever, he turns away and distances himself
[Al-Isra 17:83]
.
Among its benefits: that the blessings a person enjoys are only from Allah, as He said:
And when We bestow favor upon the
[Al-Isra 17:83]
.
Among its benefits: a warning against this state. If a person sees in himself that when he is in a state of blessing he rejoices, becomes arrogant, and is negligent regarding what Allah has made obligatory upon him, let him know that he falls under the description of this condemned person.
Among the benefits of this noble verse: that a person recognizes his own weakness when harm befalls him and turns to Allah. Even the disbeliever recognizes his own weakness and turns to Allah, Mighty and Majestic.
Among the benefits of this noble verse: that the disbelievers believe in Allah and that He is the One who removes harm, as He said:
then he is full of extensive supplication.
[Fussilat 41:51]
. The turning away in His saying:
And when We bestow favor upon the
[Al-Isra 17:83]
is a conditional clause. Where is the answer? Brother, you?
And when We bestow favor upon the disbeliever, he turns away and distances himself
[Al-Isra 17:83]
You raised your left hand, and this is not from good manners. Therefore, your disciplinary punishment will be being deprived of the answer. Yes.
The student: He turned away and stretched himself out.

The Shaykh :
Turned away
This is the answer, and
And stretches himself out و نأى بجانبه
is conjoined to it. This is correct. And where is the answer in His saying:
when evil touches him
[Al-Isra 17:83]
?
The student:
then he is full of extensive supplication.
[Fussilat 41:51]

The Shaykh :
then he is full of extensive supplication.
[Fussilat 41:51]
, All right.
full of extensive supplication.
[Fussilat 41:51]
Where is its operator?
The student: .....

The Shaykh : Is it implied? Say it based on the implication?
The student:.....

The Shaykh : So he is one of the many who supplicate. All right.
So he is one of the many who supplicate
Why was the conjunction "fa" (so/then) attached to the answer of the condition?
The student: ......

The Shaykh : Because the answer of the condition is a nominal sentence. And if the answer of the condition is a nominal sentence, it is obligatory to attach it with "fa," and it is not dropped except rarely. What are the sentences that, when they occur as the answer to a condition, must be attached with "fa"?
The student: Nominal, imperative.

The Shaykh : They are gathered in the saying of the poet:
Nominal, imperative, with a particle, with "lamma," and with "qad," and with the lightening of the verb.
Yes. If the answer of the condition is a sentence from these seven types, it is obligatory to attach it with "fa," and it is not deleted except rarely, like the saying of the poet: “Whoever does good deeds, Allah will thank them”. The original form is: “Whoever does good deeds, so Allah will thank them.” But it was dropped either due to the necessity of poetry or due to its rarity, because it is dropped even in prose, but that is rare. The important thing is that you understand now: whenever the answer sentence is one of these sentences, it is obligatory to attach it with "fa."
