What is the ruling on one who slaughters for other than Allah out of ignorance?

The questioner : One who slaughters for other than Allah out of ignorance.

The Shaykh : If one slaughters for other than Allah out of ignorance, then if he was negligent in seeking knowledge, he is sinful. But if he was ignorant and did not know at all, he is excused, though it does not benefit him with Allah. We have previously mentioned to you the difference between the ignorant person who is unaware and the ignorant person who is willfully ignorant.
