Commentary on the Book of Sermons by Ibn Nubatah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: What is the ruling on one who reads the Friday sermon from a book dedicated to sermons, such as that of Ibn Nubatah?

A: Ibn Nubatah’s sermons contain some errors. The preacher should seek out good books written on sermons to benefit from them, for there are many books containing beneficial sermons, such as the sermons of Shaykh Abdullah al-Khayyat, the sermons of Shaykh Abd al-Rahman al-Sa’di, the sermons of Shaykh Abdullah ibn Qa’ud, the sermons of Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen, the sermons of Shaykh Abd al-Aziz ibn Abdullah ibn Hasan, and others among the scholars, with attention to the Qur’anic verses and authentic Prophetic hadiths in every sermon, while considering what is appropriate for the occasion at each time.
As for sermons that are not by scholars known for knowledge, virtue, and the belief of the people of the Sunnah and the community, it is obligatory to be cautious of them.
And may Allah send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and all his Companions.
