Ruling on a man washing his wife and a young girl
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: Is it permissible for a man to wash his wife if she dies, or a girl of one or two years old, even if she is a non-mahram to him?
A: There is no harm in a man washing his wife or a woman washing her husband, because the Sunnah came with this from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and from the Salaf of the Ummah in this matter.
As for anyone other than the wife, such as the mother or the daughter, it is not permissible for a man to wash them, nor any other of his female mahrams. A slave woman whom he is permitted to have intercourse with is included with the wife, so there is no harm in washing her if she dies, because she is like a wife. Likewise, there is no blame on a man in washing a young girl under the age of seven, whether he is a mahram to her or a stranger to her, because she has no respected awrah. Likewise, a woman may wash a boy under the age of seven. And success is from Allah.
