Q: The questioner / A. M. A: I am not aware of any evidence in the Shari'ah that indicates the recommendation of these two rak'ahs; because the adhan mentioned was only introduced by 'Uthman ibn 'Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) during his caliphate when the people in Madinah increased, and he intended by it to alert them that the day is Friday, and the Companions followed him in that, among them 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and it became established as a recommended practice; due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 2:41.
And some of the scholars have held to the legitimacy of the two rak'ahs after this adhan, due to the generality of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih al-Bukhari 627.
And the more apparent to me is that the adhan mentioned does not fall under that; because the intended meaning of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) by the two adhans is: the adhan and the iqamah, except on the day of Friday, as for the day of Friday, then what is prescribed for the congregation is to prepare to listen to the khutbah after the adhan.
