The obligation to hasten in paying zakah and asking trustworthy people about its recipients

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: I have a sum of ten thousand Saudi riyals, and I want to pay its zakah, but I do not know how to pay it. Is it permissible for me to keep it until I return to my country and pay its zakah there, or is that not permissible?

A: It is obligatory for the Muslim to hasten in paying zakah when the lunar year of possession has passed. He must hasten in whatever place he is, seeking out the poor and those in need, and asking the people of trust and integrity in the country where he is about them, then he pays the zakah, whether he is in Yemen, or in the Levant, or in Makkah, or in any other place.
Allah has made this zakah obligatory upon you. If the wealth is ten thousand, the zakah is two hundred and fifty riyals, that is, a quarter of a tenth; because a thousand is the tenth, and a quarter of that is two hundred and fifty. So you must seek out some of the poor and pay them the zakah, and you should seek the help of the trustworthy and honest among your companions and brothers so that they direct you to the poor and guide you to them.
