The second question of fatwa number ( 14462 )
Q2: A widow asks and says: There remainswith me some money from the voluntary charity given to me, as well as zakah, and a lunar year has passed over it. Is zakah obligatory on it?And if zakah is obligatory on it, how do I pay it?
A2 : It is not permissible for the woman mentioned to take from the zakah more than her need. As for the money she has that reaches the nisab and a lunar year has passed over it,
it is obligatory for her to pay its zakah, which is one-quarter of a tenth, equivalent to 2.5%. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
