The ruling on a husband paying his wife's zakah from his own wealth
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: Is it permissible for my husband to pay my zakah on my behalf, knowing that he is the one who gave me the money? And is it permissible to give zakah to my sister's son, whose wife has passed away, who is young and in the early stages of his life, and is thinking about getting married? Please advise us.
A: Zakah is obligatory on you regarding your wealth if you possess the nisab or more of gold, silver, or other zakah-eligible assets. If your husband pays it on your behalf with your permission, there is nothing wrong with it. Likewise, if your father, your brother, or anyone else pays it on your behalf with your permission, there is nothing wrong with it. It is permissible to give zakah to your sister's son to help him with marriage if he is unable to provide for his own expenses. May Allah guide everyone to what He is pleased with.
