Multiplication of righteous deeds in Makkah
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: Is there a special virtue for those outside Makkah al-Mukarramah in the practice of fasting Ramadan in Makkah al-Mukarramah every year?
Answer: There is no doubt that Makkah al-Mukarramah is the best of Allah’s lands, for prayer in al-Masjid al-Haram is better than a hundred thousand prayers in any other place. It is also certain that righteous deeds are multiplied in the two sacred sanctuaries by a degree that only Allah knows, except for prayer, whose degree of multiplication has been specified. Fasting Ramadan in Makkah al-Mukarramah combines the virtue of the time and the virtue of the place. So, if one is granted the ability to fast Ramadan in Makkah al-Mukarramah, and doing so does not result in neglecting an obligatory duty for which he is responsible, or failing in a responsibility entrusted to him, then, with a sincere intention, there is great good in it.
However, if it is more beneficial for the Muslim, or for the Muslims in their religion, to remain outside the Haram, and if great benefits and many advantages result from this, then it is better for the Muslim to remain in the place where his benefit to the Muslims is greater and his good deeds are more numerous.
