Ruling on one who broke the fast in past years
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: From 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Baz to the sister: M. 'A. Q. May Allah guide her.
Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings, and after that:
I have reviewed the questions you submitted, and here is the answer.
A woman was tending sheep while she was young, and she fasted for two years after fasting became obligatory upon her. If she became very thirsty while in the desert, did she drink water?
Answer: She must make up the days she did not fast, and feed one poor person for each day she did not fast, in addition to making up the fasts, because she delayed making them up. The amount of food is half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) of the staple food of the country for each day, if she is able to do so. If she is poor and unable to feed them, she owes nothing other than fasting. There is no objection to giving the food to one poor person or more.
