The ruling on one who broke his fast and did not make it up until he grew old and can no longer fast

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This is a message, Your Eminence, received from a listener to the program who did not mention her name. Your sister in faith (H. A. Sh.) from Palestine says: Your Eminence, my mother broke her fast for several Ramadans, about twenty-eight years ago, for a valid religious excuse, and she did not fast due to her ignorance. She is now old in age and unable to fast. What is required of her?

Answer:
She must feed one poor person for each day, half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) of the staple food of the country, such as rice, dates, or barley, for each day. That is fifteen sa' for each month, for each month of Ramadan in the past years that she did not fast. She gives half a sa' to each poor person, or even to one poor person if she combines it and gives it to a single poor person, and that is sufficient. And praise be to Allah, along with repentance and seeking forgiveness. Yes.
