The Response to Those Who Interpreted the Eye as Sight

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Now, the people of distortion and denial of the divine attributes interpreted the eye as sight, sight without an eye, and they said:
By Our eyes بأعيننا
by our sight. Now, is it with an eye or without an eye? They said without an eye, and the eye can never be affirmed for Allah Mighty and Majestic, why? They said because the eye is a part of the body, so if you affirm the eye for Allah, you affirm division for Him, and what next?
The student: A body.

The Shaykh : And a body, and this is impossible, so it is not permissible. However, the mention of the eye is for the purpose of confirming the sight, meaning as if we see you and we have an eye, but that is not the case. So we say to them: this statement is wrong, wrong in several respects. The first is that it contradicts the apparent meaning of the text. The second is that it contradicts...
The student: The consensus of the Salaf.

The Shaykh : The consensus of the Salaf. The third is that there is no evidence for it; there is no evidence that the intended meaning of the eye is mere sight. The fourth is that if we say it is sight and affirm that Allah has an eye for Himself, that means He sees with that eye, for it is not possible to affirm an eye for mere sight only except for one who has an eye. And in that case, the verse would be evidence that it is a real eye. They did not mention a witness indicating that the eye means mere sight, because there is no witness. Now, it has been mentioned to us that they said to the people of the Sunnah who said:
By Our eyes بأعيننا
meaning by our sight, they said: you have interpreted or distorted the texts, so how do you justify distortion for yourselves when you deny it against us? And we have already responded to this statement. Yes, Waleed.

The questioner : If someone says: it was not intended, then is there a correct and explicit evidence for the plurality of hands?

The Shaykh : Yes

The questioner : Not from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), nor from the three generations of the Salaf.

The Shaykh : Yes

The questioner : The disagreement only occurred after the three generations.

The Shaykh : Yes

The questioner : The Salaf themselves differed regarding the plurality of hands by affirming the plurality. And if we do not affirm the plurality, if we say we do not affirm the plurality, Allah Glorified and Exalted is He does not ask us about what was not revealed.

The Shaykh : Yes, did you attend yesterday?

The questioner : Yes, indeed

The Shaykh : I attended. As for the plurality, it is established because His saying:
By Our eyes بأعيننا
is explicit in the plurality.

The questioner : There was disagreement regarding it.

The Shaykh : Explicit, explicit, it is not our concern, it happened...
