The Shaykh : Then he said:
Or do they think that We hear not their secrets and their private conversations
[Az-Zukhruf 43:80]
the secret
The student: Allah has heard

The Shaykh :
Allah has certainly heard the statement of those [Jews] who said, "Indeed, Allah is poor, while we are rich."
[Ali 'Imran 3:181]
Indeed, this is a sentence confirmed by the letter lam, by qad, and by the implied oath, so it is confirmed by three confirmers.
those [Jews] who said, "Indeed, Allah is poor, while we are rich."
[Ali 'Imran 3:181]
They are the Jews, may Allah kill them, for they described Allah with a defect. They said:
Indeed, Allah is poor, while we are rich.
[Ali 'Imran 3:181]
They said:
The hand of Allah is chained
[Al-Ma'idah 5:64]
They said: "Ezra is the son of Allah." They said: "Allah rested on the day of the Sabbath because He was tired from creating the heavens and the earth." So they, may Allah protect us from them, are the most persistent enemies of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). They described Him with every defect, and Allah has mentioned in the Qur'an what they described Him with.
Now, and his saying:
Or do they think that We hear not
[Az-Zukhruf 43:80]
So in it is a shift (idrab) and in it, yes.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : It is a question, meaning bal, do they think?
that We hear not their secrets and their private conversations
[Az-Zukhruf 43:80]
And the secret is what a person keeps secret from his companion, and the private conversation is what he confides to his companion and addresses him with, so it is higher than the secret. And the call is what he raises his voice with to his companion. So here there are three things: a secret, a confidant, and what else?
The student: And a call.

The Shaykh : And a call. For example, if a person is next to you and you confide in him, meaning you speak to him in words that no one else hears, we call this a secret. And for this reason, the man who said to the owner of the camel
When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned it, and it was a camel carrying wine, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned it and said that it had become forbidden, a man said to him, "Sell it to me." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "With what you confided in me?"
that the confiding should be a conversation between the people where they all hear it, whereas the calling is from a distance.
And We called him from the side of the mount at [his] right and brought him near, confiding [to him].
[Maryam 19:52]
These people keep secret what they say of sins and confide in one another about them, so Allah (Mighty and Majestic) says:
Or do they think that We hear not their secrets and their private conversations? Yes
[Az-Zukhruf 43:80]
This bal is a particle of affirmation, meaning: Yes, We hear. And in addition to that:
and Our messengers are with them ورسلنا لديهم
meaning with them,
recording يكتبون
and the intended meaning of the messengers here is the angels, due to His saying (Glorified and Exalted is He):
[who] made the angels messengers
[Fatir 35:1]
So in this verse is the affirmation that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) hears their secrets and their private conversations. What is the purpose of that? What is the purpose?
The student: Threatening.

The Shaykh : The purpose of that is threatening, meaning that Allah (the Exalted) knows their secrets and their private conversations, so He threatens them that He will hold them accountable for this.
And He said:
And say, "Work وقل اعملوا
No,
Indeed, I am with you both; I hear and I see.
[Taha 20:46]
The address is to Musa and Harun (peace be upon them both). Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) says to them:
Indeed, I am with you both; I hear and I see.
[Taha 20:46]
Meaning, I hear what you say and I hear what is said to you. I see what you do and I see what is done to you. Because either they are wronged by speech or by action. If it is by speech, it is heard by Allah, and if it is by action, it is seen by Allah. Now, what is intended by this hearing?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : It is intended to mean victory and support. And likewise, this seeing is intended to mean victory and support, meaning that the purpose and the intent is to clarify that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) protects them, guards them, and supports them.
